Early Life

Charles Dolan Founder of Cablevision Systems Corporation was born on 16th October, 1926 in Cleveland. He was a son of an inventor. After completing his early education he went to the university and that university was John Carroll University. He was unable to complete his university education because he was dropped out of the university. He also served in the U. S. Air Force in his life.

Entry into the World of Telecommunications

After dropping out of the university he entered into the professional life which was in the field of telecommunications. He started his business and his first business was the packaging, marketing and distribution of industrial and sports films.

He worked with his wife and he became the producer of short film reels of sports events which were used for syndication to TV Stations. He used to manufacture those from his house at Cleveland. After the hard work of several years he moved to New York for more business opportunities.

He founded a company with the name of Teleguide Inc. which was information providing cable service. After that in the same decade he founded another company with the name of Sterling Manhattan Cable that was also related to cable services. He founded Home Box Office Inc. in 1970s which was a premium programming service. After that he founded Cablevision Systems.
