Difference between White and Red Blood Cells
Difference between White and Red Blood Cells

It is a global debate over red blood cells and white blood cells. Surely! It would be a worth discussion to dig out the difference between red and white blood cells. Although both functions differently in human body which shows a huge difference between them. They both are essential components of blood with vital and distinct functions.

Red blood cells (RBC) or erythrocytes: Cells that revolve in the body and transport oxygen and carbon dioxide to the tissues. These cells have hemoglobin and nucleus.

White blood cells (WBC) or leukocytes: Cells which are without hemoglobin and nucleus in the body. The main function of these cells is to protect the immune system from foreign and viral particles.

A Debate on Difference in functions and shapes
  • RBC functions to transport oxygen and carbon dioxide to tissues.
  • Produces a protein which absorbs oxygen in body.
  • As far as the shape is concerned, it has got disc-shaped form
  • WBC functions to prevent the body from entering foreign particles.
  • They produce anti bodies in order to fight against the germs.
  • Its shape is considered to be irregular and consume no nucleus.
How many cells are present in body?
  • In males, according to scientific approach, possess 4.6 million are present in body.
  • In females, almost 6.2 million RBC are pre resent in body.
  • On the other hand, it is the possible to have 4000 to 1100 per cubic mm are present in body.
Presence, Components and Production
  • They are produced in red bone marrow.
  • As far as the presence is concerned, it makes 38-50% of the blood n body mainly dependent upon the age height and sex.
  • It composes hemoglobin which supplies oxygen.l
  • And, these WBC are produced in spleen and lymph nodes.
  • Closely related to the blood presence they produce 1% of the white blood to prevent the immune system.
  • As far as its components are concerned, antibodies to prevent the immune system.
What if the WBC & RBC’s count go beyond limits?
  • When RBC goes beyond the limits, it mainly signifies the presence of anemia in body
  • If the count goes a little bit irregular, it is harmful.
  • Presence of anemia causes heart disease, Kidney problems and other diseases related to heart and kidney.
  • Here in the case of WBC, When the WBC count goes up to irregularly, it will signify a presentence of infection the body.
  • Here, in this case it’s harmful to have HIV infection.
  • Also, it signifies leukemia in body, a vulnerable infection.
Life Period
  • It can present in the body for 120 days according to biologists.
  • It has the life cycle of 4 months and also they can appear in body in the form of small and tiny disc.
  • Whereas, it can present even few day and even years in a healthy body.
  • It has the life cycle of few days, sometimes months and also years
Switch to the movement of these cells!
  • They mainly move I the blood vessels.
  • Squeezing through capillaries in order to gives O2 to the body.
  • They don’t move in blood vessels.
  • They do have nuclei and squeeze through the blood vessel wall to stop the circulation.
  • Main purpose is to move around the injury site.
