Biography of Enzo Ferrari

Early Life

Enzo Ferrari Founder of Ferrari S.p.A was born on 18th February 1898 in Modena, Italy near the Maddalena Pass. He had a little or no formal education. He was not educated because he had no interest in books and studying. As he grew, his interest in cars became stronger and stronger, especially sports and racing cars. His interest in cars turned into a desire for becoming a car race driver when he watched Circuit di Bologna, a car race, in 1908. At that time he was just ten years of age.

He was given to the Italian Army in the division of third Alpine Artillery, during World War I. During those days Italy struck with flu disease. His father and his older brother both died in that flu disease spread all over Italy. This incident took place in 1916. He was also affected by that disease and got severely ill in 1918. Because of his illness he was discharged from his military services in the Italian Army. When he returned home his family and business both were destroyed and collapsed.

Life after War

After his return from military, he had no any job and source of earning. After struggling for several days he eventually found a job at smaller cars producing company named CMN. That company used to manufacture small passenger cars from used truck bodies.

After working there he started his carrier as a racing through a race from CMN team in 1919. In his early racing carrier he had a little success. When he realized that he had no carrier in that small car producing company, he left that company in 1920. He then joined Alfa Romeo and continued his racing carrier from that side. In 1923 he got a badge of the Prancing Horse which later in became the logo of Ferrari cars in 1932.

After 1923’s races, he also participated into a race in 1924. That was Coppa Acerbo that took place at Pescara. He won that race. After his that win, Alfa had developed some interest in him by offering him a chance of racing in more prestigious racing competition. This time he turned down this opportunity and left racing till 1927. But he didn’t stop working for the company until 1929. In 1929, he started his own motor company and a racing team named as Scuderia Ferrari which was later on became famous as Ferrari. He also developed the car factory of Alfa by building a team of more than forty racers. He was also part of that team and he continued to race for that team until 1932.

Ferrari S.p.A. is a multinational company of Italy in the field of automobile manufacturing and providing sponsorship in racing. It is famous for manufacturing luxurious sports cars throughout its history. It’s headquarter is located in Maranello. It was initially started with the name Scuderia Ferrari in 1929. From its point of formation, it is engaged in sponsoring drivers for racing. It came in the field of manufacturing cars that can be used in local streets in 1947.

In 1969, about 50 percent of this company was purchased by Fiat, which further increased up to 5 percent in 2008. As mentioned earlier that this company involved into car racing since from its beginning, this is specially included in Formula One racing and had been successful in it.

Death

He died on 14th August, 1988 at the age of 90 years in Maranello. His death was not announced publically for two days at his request. He also witnessed the launching ceremony of Ferrari F40 a great road car. That car was dedicated to him as a symbol for his achievements. After so many years of his death in 2003 a car was made which was named as the Enzo Ferrari in his memories.
