French Government Scholarships 2023

The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Program was established by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development to enable French higher education establishments to attract top international students to enrol in their master’s and Ph.D. courses study. These Eiffel Scholarships are awarded to international students. The goal of this scholarship program is to give a golden chance to future international decision makers of public and private sectors, in prime concern areas of study, and motivates candidates up to 30 years old from developing and industrialized countries at the Ph.D. level and candidates up to 25 years old from developing countries at masters level.

Fields of Study / Subjects

Eiffel scholarships are awarded in following fields:

  • Engineering Science (exact sciences, mathematics, chemistry, physics, life sciences, nano and biotechnology, earth sciences, environmental sciences, sciences of the universe, and information and communication science and technology)
  • Economics and Management
  • Law and Political Sciences.

Numbers of Scholarships:

The French Government is offering many Eiffel Excellence Scholarships for foreign students.

Duration of Scholarships:

  • A master branch: The duration of masters courses between 12 and 36 months (1 or 3 years):
  • A maximum of 12 months for entry at M2 level
  • A maximum of 24 months for entry at M1 level
  • A maximum of 36 months for an engineering degree
  • A Ph.D. branch: This offers to fund for Ph.D. applicants to spend ten (10) months in France, through joint supervision or dual enrolment.

Scholarships Description / Details:

Master’s level benefits:

  • The Eiffel scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,181
  • A maintenance allowance of €1,031
  • A monthly stipend of €150)

The following expenses are directly covered:

  • One international return journey
  • Social security cover
  • Cultural activities

Scholarship holders may also receive an additional housing allowance, under certain conditions.

Ph.D. level benefits:

  • The Eiffel scholarship includes a monthly allowance of €1,400

In addition, the following expenses are directly covered:

  • One international return journey
  • Social security cover
  • Cultural activities
  • D. scholarship holders may also receive an additional housing allowance, under certain conditions.

Eligibility Criteria:                            

Applicants for these scholarships must meet the following criteria:

  • This scholarship only for international students, Candidates with two nationalities, one of which is French, is not eligible for this scholarship
  • For master’s courses, applicants must be no older than 30 years on the date of the selection committee meeting
  • At Ph.D. level, applicants must be no older than 35 years on the date of the selection committee meeting
  • Applicants must have good English/French language skills.

  • Attach all necessary documents with the form.

Process of Application:

Candidates must contact the international relations department of the university or institution through their official website by phone or email, to get information about the deadline for submission of applications. Candidates may contact the campus France office or the French embassy of their home country. After the applicant’s French university or institute has decided to support their application to the Eiffel scholarship, they will send the application form to the applicant and assist them to fill it out. In the end, the university or institute will send the application on the applicant’s behalf.

Note:

  • Only French higher education institutions are allowed to shortlist the candidates and send their online application on the candidate’s behalf on the Campus France website.
  • Those applications which are sent directly by candidates or by foreign educational institutions will be dismissed.
  • Any French higher education institution can apply. Candidates according to their project of study have to choose by themselves the French institution.

Application Timeline:

  • Opening of the applications: 28th September 2022
  • Deadline: 8th January 2023
  • Announcement of results: 22nd March 2023.
