The government of Ireland is offering scholarships for international students all over the world. These scholarships are offered for those applicants who want to pursue their postgraduate study program at the different universities in Ireland. This scholarship is offered based on merit and needs bases students all over the world. This scholarship program is managed by the council and funded by the department of further and higher education, research, innovation, and science. The Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Program is an individual and reputable awards for outstanding research in the name of the candidate, funding across all fields (from archeology to zoology), and awards for bottom up, non directed research, except for those funded by our strategic funding partners. The aim of this scholarship program is to provide excellent students with the golden chance to direct their own research at the early career stage, working with a supervisor in their selected area of interest.

Number of Scholarships

The government of Ireland is awarding 60 scholarships for one year study .

Duration of Scholarship

  • Research Masters Degree: 12 months (1 year)
  • Structured Research Masters Degree: 24 months (2 years)
  • Traditional Doctoral Degree: 36 months (3 years)
  • Structured Doctoral Degree: 48 months (4 years).

Scholarship Description / Details

Scholarships provide many grants for the applicants, these following grants are:

  • The total value of the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship, up to a maximum of €10,000 in one year.
  • A full waiver of all tuition and other registration costs at the higher education institution.

Eligibility Criteria

In to be considered for this scholarship, applicants must fulfill some criteria:

  • Applicant must not be a permanent member of staff in an HEI or a non-Irish based research body or HEI.
  • Applicant must have a first class or upper second-class honours primary degree, or the equivalent
  • Must not have applied more than once to the Scheme
