The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) is offering scholarships to for international students who wish to their undergraduate study at Japanese universities under the Japanese Government (MEXT).

Duration of Scholarship

The scholarship period will be five years, including:

  • One-year preparatory education in the Japanese language and other subjects due to be provided upon arrival in Japan

Scholarship Description / Details

  • Allowance: 117,000 yen per month
  • Tuition and Other Fees (including fees for the entrance examination, matriculation, and tuition at universities)
  • Traveling Costs including: Transportation to Japan and Transportation from Japan

 Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for the Japanese Government scholarship, you must meet the following instructions:

  • Have any nationality of a country that has diplomatic relations with Japan
  • Students must have been born between April 2, 1996 and April 1, 2001
  • Must hold a 12 years of school education diploma, certificate
  • Must hold an educational course at a school equivalent to a high school qualification
  • Candidates must be willing to learn Japanese and interested in Japanese language
  • Candidates must be in a good health and also submit a health certificate
  • Candidates must be able to arrive in Japan between the 1st and 7th of April 2018
