Biography of Julius Michael Johannes Maggi

Early Life

Julius Michael Johannes Maggi founder of Maggi was born in Frauenfeld, Switzerland on 9th October 1846. His family basically belonged to Italy but to shipment of family business his family migrated to Switzerland where he was born. He was an entrepreneur and inventor of many food items which made him the king of foods.

Personal Life

His father was Michael Maggi. He was the youngest child of his parents. He has four other siblings also. He married twice in his life. He married to Sophie who also belonged to Switzerland. That was his first marriage. From both of his wives he had total six children, from them four were daughters and two were sons.

Debut in Working Life

He was born in the house of an industrialist family. His father was running a hammer mill in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. So, he hadn’t to suffer in search of any source of income or earnings. After his father’s death he took over that hammer mill in 1896. Through this way he entered into professional field of work.

Changing Domain and Route to Maggi

When he took over the hammer mill that was not a good time for him because industries of that field were in crisis in those days. So that was a challenge for him to take out the industry from crisis and put on the right course. He decided to shift the domain of the industry. He was looking for the areas which would earn him and his company name and fame and also lots of earnings. He met a Physician Fridolin Schuler at that time and got attached with him. He also discussed his problem with that Physician. That physician gave him the idea for entering foods department. He gave the concept of improved nutritional items of food for the working class people who had no affordability for cooking good items by purchasing different items and then cooking. He was suggested for introducing packaged food made from milled pulses, legumes or other items.

Founder of Maggi

Both of these made some combine efforts. They went on experimenting different products for a year or two. Their first product which was introduced into the Swiss market was in 1884, that product was leguminous flour which was made on industrial level. But this product didn’t given them desired results and was badly failed. He again came back to thinking process and this time he developed the concept of ready to use soups. He introduced his first instant soup product in 1886, which succeeded. He founded Maggi flavoring in later year. As those products were giving him success and were capturing the market share he went on to launch more and more products by then. Between three years, from 1887 to 1889, he introduced a number of new products of Maggi.

His business went successful so he opened its franchises in a number of cities around the globe and by the time it became a globally known product.

Maggi

Maggi is the instant food making international brand. This company is based in Switzerland. It produces soups, ketchups, sauces, seasonings, instant noodles and other instant food items. It was originally founded in 1872 by Julius Maggi but it was owned by Nestle Company in 1947 and till today it is under Nestlé’s umbrella. The best item of Maggi Company is its Maggi noodles, Maggi cube and Maggi Sauce.

Later Years

In his later life he also combined with Auguste Escoffier who used to make stock cubes. He became collaborated with Auguste and they mutually commercialized it.

Death

He died at the age of 66 years due to a stroke in 1912.
