What is Law School Admission Test?

Are you planning to join a law school? If yes, then LSAT is surely intended for you. It is a standardized test developed by Law School Admission Council in 1448. It is designed for prospective law school students.

LSAT is a half-day recognized test that offers 4 times (February, June, October and December) every year conducted at test centers worldwide.

LSAT is designed with the purpose to give admissions for Juris Doctor Programs of law schools mainly in United States (US), Australia, Canada and other countries. Statistics found Canada as high applicants range for LSAT test.

Test Composition and Duration

MCQ’s are covered in LSAT test with the duration of 35 minutes for five sections. In total, 3 hours and 30 minutes are allocated to candidates. Three sorts of skills and knowledge is evaluated in LSAT test:

Scoring Criteria and Validity

Scoring scale ranges from 120 (0.00%) to 180 (99.9%) points and will be used by Law schools in Canada, Australia and other countries. Regarding score validity, tests taken since 1st June 2008 are valid.

Prerequisites for LSAT

There are no official requirements though. It is chiefly designed for graduates and undergraduates who intend to apply in law schools with fluency in English Language.

How to get registered?

There are three ways in total to get yourself registered:

  • Online Registration – register online at LSAC.org Account
  • Telephone Registration–to register by phone call LSAC at 215.968.1001.Call weekdays between 8:30 and 6:00 pm
  • Mail-in Registration: for paper registration, email at LSAC@LSAC.org

Fee Criteria

LSAT total fee is US$ 165 and in Canada it is CA $164. In case of late registration, $70 will be charged additionally ($165+$ 70). If a candidate changes his or her test center $36 will be charged additionally ($165+$36). If a candidate changes test date then $ 83 will be charged (($165+$ 83).

Those candidates with most financial need may get fee concession that will remained valid for 2 tests in a span of 2 years.
