Malaysia International Scholarships (MIS) for International Students 2021

The Malaysia International Scholarships (MIS) awarded by the Malaysian Government to the international students from commonwealth countries. These scholarships are offered for those applicants who want to pursue their Master’s and Ph.D. degree programs in the different universities In Malaysia. These scholarships are only applicable for applicants who pursuing a full-time degree program in Malaysia. The aim of this scholarship program is to support government of Malaysia’s hard work to attract, inspire, and keep talented human capital from abroad. Talented international students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular backgrounds are welcomed to apply for this scholarship, hence further their studies in Malaysian public universities and selected private Higher Learning Institutions at postgraduate level.

Duration of Scholarship

MIS program duration is 12 to 24 months (1 to 2 years) for Masters and 3 years for a Ph.D. degree.

Eligibility Criteria

In to be considered for this scholarship, applicants must fulfill some criteria:

  • Age is 45 years not more than
  • Applicant must have a minimum of Second Class Upper (Honours)or a CGPA of 3.5/4.0 at Bachelor for Masters Degree
  • For Ph.D., degree CGPA is 3.5/4.0
  • Good in English Language Proficiency:
  • IELTS Academic Test score: 6.5
  • TOEFL internet-based test score: 92
  • Applicants obtaining Degrees with English as medium of instruction may also be accepted
  • Good health condition and certified by a Certified Doctor/Medical Professional
  • Wrote a proposal (minimum of 1000 words) that is relevant to the field of studies.

Applicants can apply for this scholarship, must follow some steps:

  • Applicants should apply online application form through the Higher education website here.

All the required documents should be attached with the form:

  • An application form
  • A certified copy of passport
  • Record of all the courses taken throughout the degree program
  • Transcripts of undergraduate studies
  • Applicants must submit an official document issued by the applicants’ alma mater describing the university’s grade system. If an applicant’s transcript does not include information on CGPA, marks or score percentile. Documents must be certified.
  • Certified copy of English language proficiency
  • Letters of recommendation from two referees (e.g. lecturer, supervisor or immediate supervisor, etc.)
  • Endorsement form
  • Admission letter from university of Malaysia (if applicable)
  • Curriculum vitae
  • Research proposal.
