National Scholarship for Higher Education 2021

National Scholarship for Higher Education is for who belongs to Scheduled tribes (ST). This Scholarship is funded by Ministry of Trible Affairs.The objective of the scheme is to encourage the ST students a section of society with the lowest literacy levels in the country , to acquire higher education in the form of fellowships to pursue M.Phil and Ph.D. Courses (full time).

Number of Scholarships

Approximately 750 slots for Scheduled Tribe candidates every year for all the subjects

Duration of Scholarship

The total duration of scholarship (National scholarship for Higher Education for ST Students JRF and SRF) is for five years, with no further provision of extension.

  • The applicant doing M.Phil will be paid scholarship amount up to the period of 02 years or the date of dissertation whichever is earlier.
  • The applicant doing PhD will be paid scholarship amount up to 5 years or the date of viva whichever is earlier.

Eligibly Criteria

  • Applicants must belonging to Scheduled Tribes should have passed the Post-Graduation examination for being eligible for the Scholarship
  • Applicant must be registered for regular and full time M.Phil/PhD studies in University/Institute/Colleges recognized by UGC
  • Applicant must fulfill the conditions of admission of that University / Institute/ Colleges.
  • Applicants of ST once considered eligible for the scholarship shall not be eligible for any other scholarship of the Centre or State Government for the same study
  • The scholarship shall be payable once the student has been registered and started the research work
  • Only Indian citizens belonging to scheduled tribes (ST) categories are eligible for National scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students

  • Scanned Copy of Caste Certificate (ST)
  • Scanned Copy of Master Degree Mark sheet
  • Declaration/Certificate from Head of Department/Institution or competent authority of the University/Institute/College to the effect of forwarding of application and necessary facilities will be provided to the candidates during research of M.Phil/Ph.D. respectively(if candidate has already registered for M.Phil/PhD).
  • Scanned Copy of Physical Disability (if required)
  • BPL Certificate (if required)
  • Date of Birth Certificate
  • Scanned Copy of Candidate’s Recent Color Photograph And Signature.
