NWO Food & Business Applied Research Fund (ARF) 2017

NWO funds scientific research at Dutch universities and research institutes. ARF   is the Food & Business Applied Research Fund provides grants to applied research contributing to innovation for food security and private sector development in the 15 partner countries of Dutch development cooperation.ARF aims at promoting research supported innovations that are readily applicable and contribute to the enhancement of sustainable food security for the most susceptible populations in the 15 partner countries of Dutch development cooperation. This Project should contribute to improving sustainable and inclusive access to sufficient and healthy food. The Research Projects must show applicability of the newly developed or adjusted knowledge, insights, technologies, tools, products or services.

Field of Study / Subjects

The research projects are available for different fields under this program which are mentioned as below:

  •  Increasing local/regional food production
  • Ensuring access to nutritious food
  • Improving access to markets
  •  Providing room for entrepreneurship

Duration

The duration of this Research Grants project is 36 months and for minimum amount is six months.

Awards Description

The research grant is offering a number of grants for the researchers who will be granted this award. These grants can be as:

  • Grants should have a minimum of 50,000 euro and to a maximum of 300,000 euro.
  • Personnel costs of maximum gross before tax 3200 euro euro for support staff, € 4500 for junior staff and € 6500 for senior staff.
  • Travel and accommodation costs for the project team members and consortium partners should be a maximum 20% of the ARF grant budget.
  • For Co-funding amount to a minimum of 20% of the grant.

Eligibility Criteria

Admissible applications will be assessed for quality, using three assessment criteria:

  • Contributing to development
  • Contributing to innovation
  • Project feasibility

How to Apply / Download Researcher Grants Form / Documents Required

Applicants, who want to apply, should follow these simple steps:

  • Applicants who applying for the ARF should consist of at least two partners that integrate different kinds of knowledge and execute a project as an effort of co-creation
  • A private or public practitioner organization registered in one of the 15 partner countries of Dutch development cooperation acting as the main applicant.
  • A research organization from the Netherlands, acting as co-applicant
  • In the execution of the project at least one researcher from a partner country must be involved.
