Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is offering Equality Scholarships scheme for Current domestic students, Future domestic students, Current international students and Future international students. These Equality Scholarships are offered for those who want to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate coursework and postgraduate research at the Queensland University of Technology (QUT) in Australia. QUT awards are offered on the base of Struggling financially need.

Duration of Scholarships

The Equality Scholarship duration is minimum 1 year and maximum 4 years for undergraduate degree and 1 year or 2 years for postgraduate degree

Scholarships Description / Details

Semester 1

Domestic students can receive:

  • An Equity Scholarship of $7,500 per year for up to four years
  • An Equity Scholarship of $5,000 for one year
  • An Equity Scholarship of $3,500 for one year
  • An Equity Bursary of $1,500 for one year
  • An Equity computer (a reconditioned desktop computer with the capacity to access internet and a USB drive)

International students can receive:

  • An Equity Bursary of up to $1,500 for one year
  • An Equity computer (a reconditioned desktop computer with the capacity to access internet, and a USB drive)

Semester 2

If you received a scholarship or bursary in Semester 1, you can’t apply for another scholarship in Semester 2

Domestic students can receive:

  • An Equity Scholarship of $1,750 for one semester
  • An Equity Bursary of $1,500 for one semester
  • A Faculty Equity Bursary of $1,500 for one semester

International students can receive:

  • An Equity Bursary of up to $1,500 for one semester
  • A Faculty Equity Bursary of $1,500 for one semester

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants, who are eligible for Equality Scholarship Scheme, must:

  • From a low-income background
  • Experiencing financial hardship
  • QUT also take personal hardship into consideration when assessing applications. This includes:
  • Personal medical conditions
  • Disabilities
  • Dependants with special needs
  • There are some guarantees with Equity scholarship:
  • If applicant is a commencing Smith Family Learning for Life student, they are guaranteed an Equity Scholarship of $1,750 if they start in Semester 2, or $3,500 if they start in Semester 1. They also guaranteed an Equity computer (a reconditioned desktop computer with the capacity to access internet and a USB drive) if they need one
  • If  applicant a commencing Q-Step Scheme student, they are guaranteed an Equity Scholarship of $1,750 if they start in Semester 2, or $3,500 if they start in Semester 1
  • If applicant is commencing Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander student, they are guaranteed the Equity bursary of $1,500. They won’t receive this bursary if they successfully apply for one or more Indigenous Commonwealth Scholarships

Those applicants who are not eligible:

  • A visiting student
  • A cross-institutional student
  • A QUT International College student
  • A current Commonwealth Scholarship recipient

How to Apply / Download Scholarships Form / Documents Required

  • Applicants should complete and submit the Equity Scholarships Scheme application form
  • All applicants must supply these documents:
  • Individual bank statements for all bank accounts covering the past two months
  • Proof of income
  • Proof of the income of parent(s)/caregiver(s) if financially dependent and/or living at home
  • Proof of partner’s income (if partnered)
  • Centrelink Income Statement for Youth Allowance, Austudy, ABSTUDY or other pension or benefit if you haven’t completed the Centrelink consent form
  • Australian Taxation Office Notice of Assessment for the most recent financial year
