Shanghai Government Scholarships 2021

Shanghai Government is offering scholarships for international students in the Shanghai University. There are two types of scholarships A and B. Type A, exclusively for those students who study for their bachelors, master or doctoral degrees, is a full scholarship, including tuition, free accommodation, accident insurance, allowance for living, and Type B, only for those students who study for their degrees, is a partial scholarship, only including tuition and accident insurance. The aim of this scholarship program is to build the science and technology revolution with global influence, encouraging international cooperation and communication and attracting more excellent international students to study in Shanghai. Shanghai Government Scholarship for International Students (SGS) was established by the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government in 2006 to fund international students to study in higher educational institutions in Shanghai.

All program/courses available at the Shanghai University for bachelors, master, and doctoral study except MBA and MTCSOL programs.

Duration of Scholarship

The duration of the Shanghai scholarship:

  • Bachelor / BS Degree: 4 to 5 years
  • Master/MS Degree: 2 to 3 years
  • Doctoral/Ph.D. degree: 3 to 4 years.

Scholarship Description / Details

Scholarships cover for full time scholarship:

  • A waiver of tuition fee
  • Free on-campus dormitory accommodation
  • RMB 1100 per month stipend for bachelor’s students, RMB 1700 per month stipend for master students, and RMB 2100 per month stipend for Ph.D. students
  • Provide Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme

Scholarships cover for partial scholarship:

  • A waiver of tuition fee
  • Free on-campus dormitory accommodation
  • Provide Medical Insurance and Protection Scheme.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be a non-Chinese applicant
  • Must be in a good health
  • Not eligible who are already enrolled in the Chinese universities at the time of application
  • Hold a high school diploma/degree with the age of 25 years for the undergraduate programs
  • Hold a bachelor’s degree with the age of 35 for master’s programs
  • Hold a master’s degree with the age of 40 for doctoral programs
  • Must be an excellent performance in academic and extra-curricular activities
  • Not obtained any other Chinese scholarships at the time of applying for scholarship.
