Taiwan Government BS / MS / Ph.D. Scholarships for International Students

The Taiwan Government through the Ministry of Education (MOE) provides Bachelors, Masters, and Ph.D. scholarships for international students (excluding students from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau) who wish to study in Taiwan universities and colleges. Each year Taiwan government offers up to 2000 scholarship awards. The great news is foreign students don’t need to contact to professor of Taiwan university for an acceptance letter. An applicant will be considered for this scholarship program directly.

This scholarship offers bachelors, masters, and Ph.D. degrees in all fields offered by Taiwan Universities and Colleges.

Number of Scholarships

Every year Taiwan government offers up to 2000 scholarships to study in Taiwan for international students.

Duration of Scholarship

The duration for BS is 4 years, for MS is 2 years and for Ph.D. is 4 years.

Scholarship Description / Details

Taiwan Government through the Ministry of Education (MOE) provides following benefits:

  • Tuition and payment of academic fees, including credit fee. Upon validation of tuition and academic fees, the Ministry of Education (MOE) awards each recipient per semester up to NTD 40, 000. If the total amount of these fees should exceed NTD 40, 000, then these are the sole responsibility of the recipient or the recipient’s college
  • Tuition and academic fees do not include administration fees, thesis advising fees, insurance premiums, accommodation, Internet access, all of which are payable by the recipients
  • Subsistence allowance: The Ministry of Education (MOE) offers each recipient who taking BS/MS degree studies a monthly stipend of NTD 15, 000; and who undertaking postgraduate studies a monthly stipend of NTD 20, 000.

Eligibility Criteria

In to be considered for Taiwan Scholarship, You must be:

  • A foreign national with a high-school diploma or post-secondary degree(s)
  • An excellent academic record, and be of good moral character
  • Applicants should apply directly for admission

Applicants are ineligible for Taiwan Scholarship if they meet the following criteria:

  • C. nationals or overseas Chinese students
  • Already registered or have obtained student status at any university/college in Taiwan
  • Already studied in Taiwan for the same level of degree
  • Exchange or dual/joint degree students admitted in accordance with academic cooperation agreements between local universities/colleges and international universities/colleges
  • A recipient of the Taiwan Scholarship for over a total of five years.

How to Apply / Download Scholarship Form / Documents Required

Applicants who want to apply for this scholarship:

Applicants should send the following document to the nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office in their country:

  • Taiwan Scholarship Application Form available at the nearest Taiwan Embassy or Representative Office
  • A copy of the applicant’s passport or other nationality certificates
  • A copy of the highest degree and academic transcripts
  • If the documents in another language rather than Chinese or English must be translated into Chinese or English and the translated documents must be authenticated
  • A copy of admission application materials to universities/colleges in Taiwan (e.g., copies of application fee remittance, application form, receipt of application from universities/colleges, e-mails, etc.)
  • A copy of a language proficiency certificate
  • Two reference letters from principals, professors, or supervisors, signed and sealed in envelopes
  • Additional documents as specified by the individual representative offices
  • They should apply directly for admission to Taiwan universities and colleges.
