University of Saskatchewan Scholarships 2021

University of Saskatchewan is offering scholarships for Canadian and international students. The Global Water Futures (GWF) PhD Excellence Scholarship is an entrance scholarship that is awarded to students who have outstanding academic records, show research promise, have exceptional communication, interpersonal and leadership abilities, and are registering for the first time in a PhD program at University of Saskatchewan in Canada.

Fields of Study / Subjects

The proposed PhD research program should be in alignment with at least one of the GIWS themes and GWF research areas, under the supervision of a faculty member of the Global Institute for Water Security.

Duration of Scholarships

The duration of the PhD scholarship is up to 3 years

Scholarships Description / Details

  • Each award value is $45,000 per year for up to 3 years
  • There are no service expectations while on GWF PhD Excellence Scholarship
  • The scholarship can be supplemented (by up to $25,000) in cases where a successful student holds other awards/ scholarships (internal or external to U of S)

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must meet:

  • Open to Canadian and international students
  • Have an entrance GPA of at least 85% or equivalent aggregate
  • Show evidence of previous research productivity as demonstrated by authorship of refereed journal publications and conference presentations/publications

 How to Apply / Download Scholarships Form / Documents Required

  • A statement of purpose (max. 3 pages)
  • Updated curriculum vitae (max. 10 pages)
  • Three letters of recommendations (2 pages max. per letter)
  • Students must be nominated by a potential supervisor at UofS; one letter of support from this supervisor is required
