Biography of William Redington Hewlett

Early Life

William Redington Hewlett founder of HP was a well known businessman of United States of America. He was born in the year of 1913 on 20th May in Ann Arbor Michigan, USA. His father was a professor in university of Michigan and he moved with his family to San Francisco when his father was offered the teaching job at University of Stanford’s Medical School. He was admitted in Lowell high school for this earlier education and after that he joined University of Stanford for his further studies. He got his bachelor degree in year of 1934 from the same university.

Interest in Electrical Engineering

After that he was enrolled in MIT and earned his Master’s degree in electrical engineering in the year of 1936. He repeated the same degree of electrical engineering from university of Stanford in the year of 1936. Electrical engineering was his passion as it is clear from his degree repetition of electrical engineering from Stanford University. His interest in this field led him to the founding of Hewlett Packard which is considered as the giants of this field.

Co founder of Hewlett Packard

William Bill Redington Hewlett is widely credited as the co founder of HP. Due to his interest in field he was taking classes of Fred Terman who was famous electrical engineer at that time. During these classes, once he met David Packard who was also an electrical engineer. As both of them had the same interests, soon they became good friends. They discussed to form a company based on their work and as a result founded Hewlett Packard Company in a joint venture in the year of 1939 on January 1. The company tendered its first public offer in year of 1957.

Hewlett Packard also known as HP is a computer technology based company founded by William Hewlett and David Packard in the year of 1939. Initially the company was not running well but after its first public tender in 1957, the company didn’t turn back and passed the mountains of progress. Presently it is one of the largest selling computer brands which is producing many new models every year. Formerly it was just limited to production of desktop computers but after that, now days it is famous for assembling of laptops, projectors and display screens production.

Death

William Redington Hewlett died in the year of 2001 on 12th January in Palo Alto, California. At the time of his death, he was almost 87 years of age. He is still considered as the founder of the base of a new computer age.
