What is the Law School Admission Test?

Are you planning to join a law school? If yes, then the LSAT is surely intended for you. It is a standardized test developed by the Law School Admission Council in 1448. It is designed for prospective law school students.

LSAT is a half-day recognized test that is offered 4 times (February, June, October and December) every year and is conducted at test centres worldwide.

Test Composition and Duration

MCQs are covered in the LSAT test with a duration of 35 minutes for five sections. In total, 3 hours and 30 minutes are allocated to candidates. Three sorts of skills and knowledge is evaluated in the LSAT test:

Scoring Criteria and Validity

The scoring scale ranges from 120 (0.00%) to 180 (99.9%) points and will be used by Law schools in Canada, Australia and other countries.

Prerequisites for LSAT

There are no official requirements though. It is chiefly designed for graduates and undergraduates who intend to apply to law schools with fluency in the English Language.

How to get registered?

There are three ways in total to get yourself registered:

  • Online Registration – register online at LSAC.org Account
  • Telephone Registration–to register by phone call LSAC at 215.968.1001. Call on weekdays between 8:30 and 6:00 pm
  • Mail-in Registration: for paper registration, email at LSAC@LSAC.org

Fee Criteria

LSAT’s total fee is US$ 238 and in Canada, it is CA $238. In case of late registration, $70 will be charged additionally ($238+$ 70). If a candidate changes his or her test centre $145 will be charged additionally ($238+$145). If a candidate changes the test date then $ 145 will be charged ($238+$ 145).

Those candidates with the most financial need may get fee concessions that will remain valid for 2 tests in 2 years.
