2025 / 2026 Scholarships in India

Jawaharlal Nehru provides scholarships in myriad of specializations for national students. The scheme is also called “Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships for Doctoral Studies”. Till today that is 2016, the total of 642 scholarships has been awarded to students from all across India. This January 22 students benefited from the scholarship. Students who want to pursue their education for doctoral studies should avail this opportunity. This scholarship will be available to students in India in two categories: Indian nationals and Asian nationals. This year, the JNMF (Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund) grants scholarships to study PhD in many subjects.

Field of Study / Subjects

Applicants can choose these fields for their PhD. Scholarships are available for PhD degree study in the following fields by Jawaharlal Nehru Scholarships:

• Indian History and Civilization
• Sociology
• Comparative Studies in Religion & Culture
• Economics
• Geography
• Philosophy
• Ecology & Environment

Other latest Scholarships in India are also offered for different degrees and subjects all over the India

Number of Scholarships

Eighteen scholarships will be offered to Indian Nationals and two scholarships to Nationals of other Asian countries for Ph.D. studies in India from 1 April 2025 for up to 2 years.

Duration of Scholarship

Duration for this scholarship is upto 2 years

Scholarship Description / Details

Following are the grants provided by this scholarship:

• Maintenance allowance
• Tuition fee – Rs.18,000 per month
• Contingent expenses for stationary, books and travel for study tours within India etc. – Rs.15,000 per annum

Eligibility Criteria

For this scholarship, applicants should fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

• Must be an Indian and nationals of other Asian countries.
• Should be a full-time PhD scholar
• Age should not be above 35 years
• Should be registered for PhD degree in a recognized institute of India
• Should have 60% marks in both Graduate and Post-Graduate and hold a first class Post graduate degree
• Applicants who are benefiting from other scholarship fund are not eligible to the scholarship.

For applying follow these steps:

• Applicants must send their forms by post on this address

• Download the application form from official website and complete the form
• A passport sized photograph must be pasted on the form of applicant
• A supervisor’s report
• Demand/Postal order draft for INR 100.Ph.D.
• PhD registration certificate
• A synopsis of 4 pages or 1500 words
• Uncompleted and unsigned forms will be rejected
• Doctoral Monitoring Committee’s report or Supervisor’s report/recommendations.
