Are you going to plan to take an admission in university or a college? Then here is an admission test for you that is made for the Pakistani student so that they can easily apply in certain institutions. Let’s know what the term is and what are the functions associated with it.
What is NTS? – A Striking Question That Beats Your Mind!: NTS stands for National Testing Services. It is a freshly introduced term and also a system which serves a major function of conducting tests. These tests are more closely related to the admission in colleges and universities. In short, this is the demand of various colleges and universities since years. The test accompanied by NTS for admission into colleges and universities called NAT (National Aptitude Test) and GAT.
Which Tests are involved in NTS?
- NAT-1: This is the test for those students who have completed 12 years of education that is intermediate or equivalent.
- NAT-II: NAT-II is made for those students who have completed 14 years of the education. That is they should have completed up the graduation or equivalent.
- GAT-General or GAT- subject: GAT has been designed for those who have done or completed up their 16 years of education that is MA, MSC, BS, BSc(honor). Only these students can apply for the test.
NTS has some other characteristic as well that is NTs also conduct tests for HEC (Higher Education Commission) and foreign funded scholarships.
Let’s pick up one category of NAT and know about its criteria, function, schedule and test format.
NTS (NAT-1) – What is the test format?: In this test, there is the notion of MCQ’S only. THERE ARE 90 MCQ’s in NAT-1 paper and when it comes to the time duration, it is almost or at least 2 hours that is 120 minutes.
The test is consisting on four major parts that are as follows:
- Verbal Reasoning (20 MCQ’s)
- Analytic Section (20 MCQ’s)
- Quantitative Section (20 MCQ’s)
- Subject Knowledge (30 MCQ’s and usually 40 MCQ’s in NAT-II paper)

Part-4 (Subject Knowledge) – (40 MCQ’s for nat-2 and 30 for nat-1)
In this part, the test format there is a different test for very subject, some have science subject, Islamic subjects and other have medical subjects as well. So the questions will be according to the major they will choose.
How to apply for NTS test?: If you are planning to take admission in any college or university and you want to appear for the NTS test. Follow the instructions that are in the bullets:
- Download “NTS registration form” and “Bank Deposit Slip” from the site
- Fill the registration form
- Paste two pictures
- The fee for registration is Rs. 300 and deposit that money as registration fee on given “Bank Deposit Slip” in any online branch of UBL, ABL, or HBL bank.
- Do attach the slip with the registration form.
- Then, send this form to the office of NTS
- In couple of days, they will send you the “Roll no Slip”
- You can also download the copy of your roll no slips from the site.
Which Universities consider NTS test must to be done?: Here is the list of some universities, which demand the NTS test for example, University of Punjab, LAHORE, Government College University, Lahore, National College of Arts, Lahore, UET, Pakistan Forest Institute, Bahadudin Zakriya University, Comsats institute of information and technology(including all cities campuses in Pakistan), Fatima Jinnah women university, Rawalpindi, university of Gujrat, Kinnaird college of women that is in Lahore, university of veterinary and animal Science, Lahore.
Go for these instruction, which will help you in the test!
- Do try to reach earlier in the test hall at least before 30 min
- Morning test will be started at 8:30 AM( late comers will not be allowed to sit in the hall)
- Evening test will be held after 2:00 PM, if any students comes late that is after 2:15, he/she will not be allowed to sit in the hall.
- Mobile phones are strictly prohibited in the halls.
- Bring pen and clip-board with you
- Do shade the correct answer properly. Don’t let the shade leak out the box
- Lastly, don’t forget to bring the slip with you.
