GAT Still Mandatory or Not
GAT Still Mandatory or Not

Have you heard about GAT Still Mandatory or Not or that is over? Yes! You must have heard about it. But according to many other sites, it’s not. But HEC itself is of the view that NTS didn’t eliminate it rather it is mandatory for M.PHIL and PhD students. Various websites are spreading the news that the Graduate Assessment test (GAT) is been eliminated forever. This is been announced by the Lahore High Court orders and NTs itself is of the view that it is false news spread by false courts. Here the post will wipe out the confusion that is hovering around today’s century students.

Are students free from GAT?

  • Students indeed need to appear for the GAT test every year for admission to post-doctoral programs.
  • Many students fail to achieve the required score but when the news that the GAT is not necessary only the admission test university is enough.
  • At once it was surely a piece of relieving news but the situation is in a tie.

A Notion of Public and Private Universities:

  • Here, there is confusion that strikes the minds of many students about whether the GAT is not mandatory in public universities or private universities.
  • To wipe out the confusion, HEC reports that the GAT is not mandatory in public universities like International Islamic University, Islamabad, FAST, NUST and other public universities but it is mandatory in NDU and other universities.
  • It depends on the demands of the universities.

GAT is mandatory in HEC recognized Universities:

  • When it comes to the official site of NTS, they have articulated that “No change in HEC policy about MS/ M.phil or PhD and there is no court order on the subject”.
  • So, according to them the universities which are highly recognized with HEC, have to appear for the GAT test so that they can get admission in their Postgraduate Programs.

Is the Entrance Test enough for admission?

  • It was believed that there would be only an entrance test in the universities and based on that admission would be given to the students but the universities which are HEC affiliated don’t go for this drift.
  • It was even heard that the entrance test which is announced every year will be enough for the eligibility criteria but HEC instantly puts clarity in false drift so that no one can get harmed by the rumors.

NTS’s Responsibility to conduct GAT and GRE:

  • NTS has given a task to conduct GRE and GAT tests so that the postgraduate programs will further move on. There are two types of tests GRE and GAT (Graduate Record Examination) GAT also has two subtypes GAT general and GAT subject. The first one deals with admission to M.phil and HEC scholarships scheme whereas the latter one deals with the admission in Ph.D. Programs.

Final Words:

So you heard it right GAT is still mandatory to apply for higher courses and degrees in Pakistan (https://rightway.org.pk/about-us/). To apply for HEC-associated universities for MS/MPhil programs you have to appear in the NTS test that will conduct your exam as per GAT guidelines. (https://www.nts.org.pk/new/GAT-G.php
