Why research

We have to make decisions in our daily lives where common sense comes into play. Decisions are made based on our personal experiences as well as what we have learnt from others’ experiences. Sometimes we do not have enough experience in something as well and we have not learnt enough from others experiences. Sometimes there are also conflicting opinions about what could be a better solution in some particular situation. Sometimes individual solutions cannot work well so there is a need to merge multiple solutions effectively for better solutions. In this kind of situation, we need to research to find an optimal solution to solve a problem.

Why we do research:

  • It sparks our inner curiosity. We want to know what’s unknown to us. It’s human nature that he wants to discover and know the truth about things that are mysterious to him. Without this curiosity, our life would be the same as our ancestors had.
  • Research is the only we can solve real-life problems. Population growth was an issue, everyone was worried about how our food requirement would be fulfilled as most of the food was destroyed by pests and there was no solution to store it for more time. But over time as people through science discovered how to increase the life span of stored food we are now able to preserve food for years.
  • The decision-making ability of people has been increased and because of the presence of a lot of data in and around human beings, they can make wise decisions.
  • People are getting wiser and wiser because of research being taken seriously.

Myths around research:

It is a common saying that research is limited to labs and big facilities but I would say it’s in our life now and will be here till the end of the world. It not only helps scientists discover cures for diseases that are contagious but also helps everyone in every field of life.
