CAS-TWAS President’s Scholarships 2021

The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS) is offering scholarships for international students all over the world. These scholarships are offered for those students who want to pursue their PhD degree from the Chinese universities under the CAS-TWAS scholarship.

Field of Study / Subjects

Applicants can choose any field from the following fields for their PhD program:

  • Agricultural Sciences
  • Structural, Cell and Molecular Biology
  • Biological Systems and Organisms
  • Medical and Health Sciences and Neurosciences
  • Chemical Sciences
  • Engineering Science
  • Astronomy, Space and Earth Sciences
  • Mathematical Sciences
  • Physics

Other latest Scholarships in China are also offered for different degrees and subjects all over the China.

Number of Scholarships

200 scholarships are offered under the CAS-TWAS scholarship, including 60 from developing countries.

Duration of Scholarship

Up to 4 years for PhD study program under the CAS-TWAS scholarship.

Scholarship Description / Details

The CAS-TWAS scholarships provide many grants for the applicants, these following grants:

  • Applicants will receive a RMB 7,000 or RMB 8,000 monthly stipend to cover following expenses:
  • Accommodation and other living expenses
  • Local travel expenses
  • Health insurance
  • All applicants will also be provided tuition and admission fee waivers
  • Cover travel from their home countries (one trip only per student/scholar)
  • TWAS will select 80 awardees from developing countries to support their international travel, while CAS will support remaining 120 countries including 60 from developed countries
  • Visa fee will also be covered (once only per student/scholar).

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet following criteria:

  • Maximum age of 35 years on 31 December 2017
  • Applicants cannot take up other scholarships/project during the period of his/her fellowship
  • Not hold Chinese citizenship
  • Have a master degree from any recognized institution/ university
  • Applicants must provide evidence that s/he will return to their home country on completion of their studies in China according to CAS-TWAS agreement
  • Applicants provide proof of knowledge of English or Chinese language

How to Apply / Download Scholarship Form / Documents Required

Applicants can apply for this scholarships, should following some steps:

  • Complete the application form via the online application system, visit main site online application system
  • In the meantime, prepare supporting documentations for application:
  • Proof of knowledge of English and/or Chinese
  • Notarized photocopy of transcripts of both undergraduate and post-graduate education
  • Complete CV with a brief introduction of research experience
  • Detailed research proposal
  • Photocopy of your passport which has at least 2 years validity (only pages showing personal and validity details)
  • Photocopies of all the title pages and abstracts of maximum 5 published academic papers
