What is a Cisco Certified Entry Networking Technician?

CCENT confirms the aptitude to connect and troubleshoot a very minor branch network. It mainly includes basic network security to operate the branch network. CCENT leads the candidate in an environment where he can assess his skills regarding branch networks.

Which areas does it cover?

It covers several areas in general including the configuration of networks, WAN technologies, wireless concepts, Switching, and routing fundamentals. Through CCENT, CCNA will be achieved which is the arena where branch networks are dealing with complex connections.

Any requirements or not?

CCENT has no prerequisites. a minimum of 2 years of experience in networking is required.

Taking Exam

To pass the exam, the 100-101 ICNDI course is important too. It is an exam that will lead the candidate towards the gate of CCNA. A candidate can appear for this exam after getting trained in the Part 1 (ICND1) course. It mainly assesses the candidate’s knowledge in installing, operating, and troubleshooting a small office network.

 

Which areas the course will cover?

The course is involved with several objectives such as describing network fundamentals and building up simple LANs. More than that, the establishment of internet connectivity, managing network device security, expanding small to medium-sized networks with WAN connectivity, and describing IPv6 basics.

How to get registered?

To get registered, follow these steps:

  • Register online via http://www.vue.com/cisco/
  • Opt for one type of exam either proctored or self-administered.
  • Schedule the exam online, by phone, or through the test centre.
  • Pearson VUE is a co-partner of Cisco and will provide every single need regarding the exam.

Criteria for Recertification

The validity period of this certificate is three years in general. To recertify, pass the below-mentioned test before the expiry date:

  • Pass the ICND1 exam or any current Associate Level exam or any current 642-XXX professional level or any 300-XXX professional level.
  • Pass current CCIE exam CCDE written exam or CCDE practical exam
  • Pass Cisco Certified Architect interview and Cisco Architect Board review.

In summary, the certified holders will have to perform basic functioning in the network as well as the WAN technologies. Routing and switching will also be done by the holder. It stands as a pyramid with the base CCENT which is the entry level.
