Common SAT Mistakes to Avoid
Common SAT Mistakes to Avoid

While preparing for the SAT, students more often try to get started so that they can impress the examiners. Here, there are several mistakes which students usually make but how to avoid them these are all by the experts. Scores are surely an important factor in determining the state of whether a student will be able to take admission in a certain college or university. Here are some common SAT mistakes which should be avoided.

 Pressure and Nervousness:

  • SAT is a four-hour test and this is the reason why most of the students fail.
  • Their nervousness leads them to a pool where their blank mind gives them nothing but a bad score.
  • So before a test, they should be mentally prepared like stress-reducing techniques can sometimes be helpful. Some students have good control over their stress and anxiety.

False Reaction:

  • What most of the students do is to answer the question which was not asked by the examiner.
  • This error is the most common. SAT is more likely to question what a normal human can predict and most of the time the answer is present in the question or choices.
  • This mistake can be avoided by reading the questions twice right before starting the work. And again read it before merging in the answer.

Mental Lock!

  • Now, when questions come in front of them, their mind gets locked.
  • They don’t know where they should start and from where they should start thinking.
  • So they waste their precious time staring at the question.
  • Now the question is how to avoid this mistake. When students mostly see the question, immediately for sure any image any equation does strike the mind. Then they should look at the question.
  • Most of the SAT questions are more related to solving stuff, which is not solved without writing anything.

Wrong answering of questions!

The next most common error that most of the students make is to sometimes add the questions which require subtraction not addition and also multiplication instead of division. Now how to avoid these mistakes?

  • Students should write all the formulas they know at the first age because they completely do not rely on their memory because the mind sometimes gets misleading so they should paste every formula they know.
  • Mostly Pythagoras theorem is used in SAT Math questions. They should go for a+b/2 which is another favorite one of SAT. For this students need to practice Math questions daily without relying on their memory.

Poor Homework for Essay:

  • SATs that how a student writes? Students don’t know how to compose an essay.
  • What to do and how to prove the point.
  • This is the major fault of the students and may the major reason behind their institution; the main focus may be was not on essay writing.
  • To avoid this mistake, they should start collecting the knowledge which they already have regarding the topic. And then start following the pattern of:
  • Introduction
  • Main body
  • Conclusion

Reading is a base, don’t overlook it!

  • SAT is all about reading. Infect the reading is the very basics of the SAT.
  • Mostly students just skim the reading when they read articles, newspapers, notes and books to grasp the main idea but this is not the case in SAT.
  • They should practice the reading materials for the SAT. Even in the test, the Math section is more related to the reading. So it’s not a matter of taking it as a low matter.

Test Day Tips:

  • The more you practice more you will be able to save your time in exams. Practicing more helps you develop your thinking and writing skills which helps you when it is needed the most.
  • I can’t say don’t take stress or don’t panic because it is a situation where everyone will panic no matter how strong his nerves are. It’s okay to panic but being unable to perform in stressful situations is not okay. To avoid such a situation you should practice your skills in front of friends and family and when you are prepared you should practice the final round on some stranger.

Conclusion:

The most common errors can help the students prepare for the SA test if they have never gone through the SAT. The students who have experienced the SAT can use their previous common errors to improve the difficulties they encountered.
