Biography of Dennis Gillings

Early Life

Dennis Gillings founder of Quintiles is a famous businessman and entrepreneur of United Kingdom. He bore in the year of 1942 on March 3rd in London, United Kingdom. He started his early education in his local town school and later on for formal education; he joined Excellence Center of London. He earned his secondary school certificate from there and for further education, he joined university. Later on, he received his diploma of mathematical sciences in the year of 1967 from the University of Cambridge. After that, he was enrolled in University of Exeter which is located in United Kingdom and earned his PhD from there in the year of 1972.

Initial Career

After his education completion, he was thinking of starting his own career. His career is very long in this regard that he served in many jobs as compared to any other person. He started his initial career as a supervisor in a grocery store but later on at the end of his career, he has even served as a professor in the University of North Caroline from the year of 1973 to 1988. The university is located in Chapel hills.

Founder of Quintiles

Dennis Gillings is widely credited as founder of Quintiles. After his initial career as a supervisor and later on as a professor in University, he was not satisfied even. It is quite a strange thing that having such a good job of professorship in a university and financially set things; he was also thinking of starting his own business. As a result he started to provide services of statistical consulting and data management to his clients about pharmaceutical industry in the year of 1974.  His work went into a good form and it resulted in the foundation of Quintiles.

Quintiles

Quintiles was founded by Dennis Gillings in the year of 1982. From the year of 1974, he made his first contract of pharmaceutical industry and later on founded the company after 8 years. The first office of company was started in North Carolina because it was most convenient place for him due to his job. Just after 8 years of its founding, he developed Quintiles pacific and Quintile limited which are two other parts of the same chain. Generally Quintiles is a biotechnology and pharmaceutical sector company with its branches in more than 40 countries all over the world including Canada, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Spain, Netherlands, United Kingdom and Mexico. Presently this company has the 28,400 employees working with it and its head quarter is in Durham, North Carolina in United States of America. The employee growth of Accor is about 6% with global revenue of 3.7 billion United States dollars. It was ranked firstly in the best place to work list in the year of 2003.

Present Situation

Presently He is living in Chapel Hills and is about 72 years of age. He has received his honorary doctorate degree from University of North Caroline in the year of 2001.
