Difference between Affirmation and Meditation
What is Affirmation
Affirmation simply means a positive thought to triumph over the negative thought and use of positive statement instead of negative one. It provides emotional support to a person with good vibes. It is a positive assertion and declaration of truth.
The self-affirmation is a psychological process of affirming your potential, skills and moral values to protect your personal identity. Claude Steel originated the theory self-affirmation. This theory believes that if a person holds his personal values, he is less likely to feel threaten and discomfort in life. Research says that self-affirmation is beneficial for a person in boosting up health and academic performance. It also helps in reducing defensiveness.
In new age, affirmation refers to the practice of thinking positive and self- empowerment. Theorists say that people can achieve positive mental state of mind by affirmation and get success. Affirmations should be positive and written in present tense instead of past tense.
A person who does regular affirmations, becomes more certain and confident about his abilities. He can transform “I can’t do this” to “I can do this” with little effort. It’s just a game of mind and needs consistency and struggle.
For example
“I am grateful to god for His countless blessings”.
“I am hopeful of getting a good job”.
