Difference between Measles and Chickenpox
Children’s biggest fear is to acquire measles and chicken pox, through which they search escapism. Measles and chicken pox are the most common diseases which are associated with the childhood of a person. Both of them leaves a patient into red pimples, irritating red spots on skin. Let’s define them:
Measles: It’s a disease mainly caused from a virus named “paramyxo virus”. This is a viral infaction of the respiratory system – occurring mostly in childhood – cause fever and red rash.
Chicken Pox: A temporary disease mainly caused from a virus named “varicella zoster virus”. This disease is also common in children. It causes a mild fever and a rash of itchy inflamed pimples, which turn to blisters and then loose scabs.
Let’s dig out the difference between Measles and Chickenpox.
Difference between Measles and Mumps
Variance in diseases:
Measles spread through paramyxo viruses. It is an airborne disease which knocks your door with a large group of infections. Rubella rash is another name of measles. It spreads through respiration or fluids of infection child. Cough, sneezing, sharing eating utensils with the infection person can spread infection. Measles primarily occurs in unvaccinated children. Some parents don’t want to vaccinate their children, as they are fearful that vaccines will have adverse effects on their children. Lack of Vitamin A can also become a risk factor for measles.
Whereas in case of chicken pox, it spreads through the virus of varicella zoster virus. Similar to measles, it easily spreads itself through cough, sneeze, and touch of the infected being. It is very rare that a chicken pox patients suffer from this disease more than once.
Drag To The indications: There are surely some symptoms which appear at the time of acquiring a disease. The measles patients will get the symptoms within two or three weeks. Following are the marks for measles:
- Splotch rash
- Fever (usually of 104-105 degrees)
- Cough
- Sore throat
- Koplick spots ( white spots)
- Runny nose
- Soggy eyes
- Body aching
- Skin rash
A widespread skin rash is a major symptom of measles. These rashes start from the head and spreads to the other body parts. They mostly appears after the 2-3 days of virus exposure and last up to 7 days.
Now, chicken pox show its symptoms within 10-12 days, the symptoms are as under:
- High Fever( usually from 102-103 degrees)
- Skin rash
- Loss of appetite
- Red or pink bumps all over the body
- Headache
- Tiredness
Children’s distress of Body Rash: In both diseases, children feel much scarier as it cause rashes and itching. Body rash is common but that body rash is different in both cases, measles red spots don’t contain fluid or blisters which is not itchier then chicken pox.
Whereas, chicken pox skin rash is full of red pimples, containing fluid in it. This the only reason why children itch so much during chicken pox. In measles, whole skin is covered with red spots while in chicken pox, spots are less in number.
How much Duration? The children who get chicken pox, don’t feel sick or ill rather their stomach gets disturbed for a short period of time. They feel hell much pain in itching. This lasts for a very short period of time almost 10 days, if proper care is adopted.
Whereas, in case of measles, people feel much sicker for a long time. The duration of measles lasts two weeks almost if proper medication is adopted.
Switch to Cures: When it comes to treatments, either children or adults, dislike eating medicines, pain killers and bitter syrups. Well, in case of measles, vaccines are available in large number. Some treatments are almost same for both the diseases. They are as under:
- Complete bed rest
- Hydration
- Food nutrition
- Drinking seasonal juices
- Avoid scratching the skin
For measles:
- Drink as much water as possible (6 to 8 glasses a day)
- Add Vitamin A in the diet
For Chickenpox:
- Take lukewarm baths
- Apply unscented lotion
- Try to wear lightweight and soft clothes
Well! Measles is the scariest disease when compared with chicken pox, doctors recommend aspirin and ibuprofen as high fever is associated with it and vaccines to prevent from such diseases. It is easy to overcome Chicken pox than measles, if above mentioned prescription are adopted by the sufferer. The medications are avoided in chicken pox as it is vulnerable to the stomach and blood cells.
But does the vaccine still protect you from the desease?
Well, yes, because that’s what vaccines do!
No… Vaccines are the virus Justin low quantities and almost dead teaching your body how to fight it off on its own that is a vaccine
Needs more clarity of thought or what you want to say please give details
Vaccines are actually the weakened virus, injected to the body, which helps the body to produce the antibodies needed to fight against the disease (which is safe). When the person is infected by the actual virus, most of them are immune to it because the body has already had the antibodies to fight them.
nice
Mutations are what we all should be scared of, super germs are such mutations. Darwinism is science and the truth of reality I am deeply sad to say. All of our devices are science not fact-o truth. Science works under some conditions and doesn’t work in other conditions. CHERISH YOUR TIME.
great observation you have Ryan. WE would like more comments from you on our other medical or science posts.
Wrong just because they got shots does not mean that they can’t get it !!!
How many chances to get them even they got shots? Any idea?
Im Suffering from chickenpox right now, it sucks
may you get well soon Firegod
I Don’t get it, I vaccinated my daughter and she still caught the chickenpox.
Thats sad may be vaccine is outdated or your daughter is immune to that vaccine. You need to discuss with doctor in detail.
Vaccines are not 100% effective, and even when they do work, immunity only lasts a few years, depending on the vaccine. Some vaccines are live viruses, like mmr (measles mumps rubella). That means children who get those vaccines can spread the viruses to others and actually come down with the very illness the vaccine is supposed to prevent! There are toxic ingredients in vaccines and serious life threatening side effects. Do your research before vaccinating.
That is 100% truth!! Don’t get vaccinated!!
My chicken pox is complicating. It is much. Hope I will not die?
oh. What is happening to your chicken pox? dint you took some shoots while you were borne?
I am in my 50s and thinking of the getting the shingles vaccine but I cannot remember if I got the measles or chicken pox as both my parents and childhood doctor have passed. So I have no records to medical records for that. My Aunt and Uncle got the shingles and it seems to be in the family. Should I still get the shingles vaccine even if I did not get the chicken pox?
You better tell your complete history and family history to vaccine specialist doctor and consult him.
How I can get rid of chickenpox marks from my face ?
