Difference between Secularism and Capitalism

In the world of politics there are so many things to discuss and to talk about. There are two most commonly discussed ones; they are the secularism and the capitalism. In society, when it comes to the Marxism, class differences, religion and any other section, the two keep their importance. They are either the systems or concepts giving a thought to the people who consider all these things to be discussed at a right side. When we see the two of the concepts as the separate entities they seem to be worthless but their importance is underlying in the differences they share.

Let’s move toward the difference between Secularism and Capitalism and discuss these two concepts which are of high importance.

What is Capitalism?

Understanding it through a common point of view, it is a socio economic system which states that there should be a private ownership. The free markets’ concept is associated with it. Let’s move toward the major crux of the capitalism that is there are the private owners who mainly control their free markets on the basis of the authority they share. Their purpose is to make and gain more and more money in order to survive. To gain more profit and earning money is the major notion in the concept of capitalism. Now coming to the concept of the free market its quiet important because it is the basis which provides them with the profit. In this context, it is the market that determines the supply and demand of a product with consumers having freedom and a variety of choices in products and services. The market should be such that allows the customers freedom and variety of choices in products.

Capitalism produces two kinds of income:

• The profit for the owners of a business and wages.
• There is also a type of compensation for people who make the products or perform a particular service for clients or consumers on behalf of the business.

As a whole, it is a model for the whole of the society and it is the guideline for the people of the capitalist society. Capitalism is based on the notion of the individualism; the main point is that it guides the humanity to be independent in their lives. It mainly suggests that a being should completely rely on the skills of his own rather to live under his or her parents even after becoming a grown up being. It mainly encourages the people mainly the youth, who are now more relying on their families which is a false performance. It also gives them a strong motivation to go for the independent notion.

What is secularism?

Coming to the secularism, it is mainly a principle that is consist religion and government both. Secularism encourages the separation of both entities in a society to prevent an overlap of power or an entity controlling another at the expense of society’s members. If we separate the government and the religion, it will be a fight between the two other entities which will be the result of something bad thing. There will be eventually a clash between the two entities. For instance, if Church is separated from the state, secularism prohibits the establishment of the secular religion, and its members are always encouraged to keep their religion as a private matter and not to influence the civil matters.

Importance of secularism

As far as the importance of the secularism is concerned, it gives equal rights to its followers. It gives an individual right to think completely differently and right to choose that particular religion on the basis of his or her beliefs.

Taking these two concepts together, they share one common theme and key concept of democracy and equality that is highly important. There is an involvement of the two entities. There are sectors in it the main sectors are concerned with the government and the trading sector. They say that there should be a less control of government over people. On the other hand, the statement is completely different for the secularism because they are preventing the merging of the government and religion.

Themes are also of the great importance, because it is something which will define its position in the society. Capitalism says that an individual should earn any profit by legal means by trading while on the other hand secularism is different and in the favour of the statement that it maintains the status quo in a particular society by saying that proper rights should be there at the same time and religious organization are accorded with the same respect and rights.

It advocates for the separation of Church and the state. Additionally, members of the government are encouraged not to influence civil matters by keeping their religion a private matter. But both the concepts focus on the themes of democracy and equality. Secularism prevents the merging of government, while capitalism encourages the idea of a free market that works without any government interference.
