ENS de Lyon Scholarships 2025

The Ampère Scholarships of Excellence 2025-2026 are fully funded master’s scholarships for international students seeking to enroll in one of ENS de Lyon’s eligible master’s programs. This scholarship is worth €1,000 per month.
The ENS de Lyon and its partners are awarding scholarships to outstanding overseas students seeking to participate in a master’s degree in France. These scholarships are available to outstanding individuals who wish to complete their studies in France. The ENS de Lyon offers master’s programs in the domains of exact sciences, arts, human sciences, and social sciences.

  • Arts
  • Exact Sciences
  • Social Sciences (excluding the Professional Masters programs in teaching)
  • Human Science

Duration of Scholarships

The ENS de Lyon award has a lifespan of 12 months (1 year), but it is extendable for the second year master’s program.

Scholarships Description / Details

ENS de Lyon offers 1000€ per month for a period of 12 months or two academic years.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill these conditions for ENS de Lyon master scholarships:

  • Non-European students are those who do not have nationality from the European Economic Area (27 EU nations, Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein), Switzerland, Monaco, or Andorra.
    and who have received a higher education degree in another nation.
  • EUROPEAN students are students who are citizens of one of the European Economic Area’s 27 countries (the European Union, Norway, Iceland, or Liechtenstein).
  • Applicants must be foreign nationals.
  • Applicants must be born between January 1st, 1998 and no older than 26 years old at the application deadline.
  • For a 1-year master’s program:
  • Applicants must show proof of obtaining a License (equal to 180 ECTS European credits) or an equivalent diploma/level recognized by ENS de Lyon.
  • To apply for a two-year master’s program, applicants must have completed a one-year Masters level (240 ECTS European credits) or have an equivalent certificate recognized by ENS de Lyon (e.g., M.Phil).

How to Apply / Download Scholarships Form / Documents Required

If you are a European student

If you are a non-European student, the process will depend on the Master’s program chosen

Incomplete applications will not be considered; it is the student’s obligation to ensure that all requested documents are uploaded.
2. Application review.
The ENS de Lyon’s admissions committee reviews all applicants. No results will be provided over the phone.
3. Admission and Enrolment
If your application is accepted for an ENS de Lyon program, you will receive a letter of pre-enrollment describing the steps you must follow to prepare for your stay in Lyon.

  • Copy of Passport (Personal inforamtion page)
  • Official Identity Document
  • Motivation letter and curriculum vitae.
  • Certificates of diplomas and degrees already achieved (for example, a bachelor’s degree) – documents must be in French or English. If the document is in another language, you must produce a translated document in French or English that is formally validated.
  • University academic transcripts of records – documentation must be in French or English. If the document is in another language, you must produce a translated document in French or English that is formally validated.
  • For this year: evidence of enrollment—documents are accepted only in French or English.

    Other documents required

Depending on the program chosen additional documents may be required. These documents could include research projects, language certificates, letters of recommendation, and any other information relevant to academic advisors.
