Government of Brunei Scholarships for International Students 2021

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade (Government of Brunei) is offering Scholarships for foreign students. These scholarships tenable in Universiti Brunei Darussalam, the scholarship award provides applicants with the opportunity to study at any of the following institutions of higher education:

  • Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD)
  • Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA)
  • Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB)
  • Politeknik Brunei (PB).

Shortlisted candidates are requested to confirm all the directives (rules and regulations) of this scholarship program, obey rules and regulations of his/ her university/ polytechnic, respect the culture, customs, and official religion of Brunei Darussalam, follow the orders of all the laws and regulations of Brunei Darussalam, abstain from participating in political activities, and if deemed necessary by the ministry of foreign affair a candidate must undergo health screening in Brunei Darussalam.

Duration of Scholarships

This scholarship program duration is 3 years for diploma, 4 years for undergraduate degree and 1 year or 2 years for master degree program.

Scholarship Description / Details

The Government of Brunei Darussalam will bear the following expenses:

  • Tuition Fees
  • An economy class air-ticket to Brunei Darussalam from the applicant’s country of origin and vice-versa
  • A monthly personal allowance of BND 500.00
  • A monthly food allowance of BND 150.00
  • An annual book allowance of BND 600.00
  • Baggage allowance for shipment of personal effects to applicant’s country of origin upon completion of the program, at a maximum amount of:
  • BND 250.00 to a country within the ASEAN region or
  • BND 500.00 to a country outside the ASEAN region
  • Accommodation at the residential college of the University/Polytechnic.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be eligible for the Government of Brunei Scholarship program, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Open to all citizens, but not limited to ASEAN, Commonwealth, and OIC member countries
  • An applicant should be nominated by their Government
  • An applicant must be certified to be medically fit for this scholarship
  • An applicant must be between the age of 18-25 for undergraduate and diploma programs and must not exceed the age of 35 for postgraduate programs
  • Not eligible to Brunei Darussalam Permanent Residents.

Here in block letters, an applicant will mention their personal and contact details (like applicant’s name, passport number, date of birth, religion, marital status, citizenship, country of birth, ethnicity, gender, postal address, telephone, mobile, and fax number and email address, and name of parent/ guardian, their occupation, address and contact number).

Here an applicant will mention the details regarding his/ her education.

Here in the 3rd box, an applicant will give details regarding language proficiency, in the 4th box mention any academic distinctions or prizes, in the 5th box proposed future career, and in the 6th box write a statement of purpose.

Here in the 7th box, an applicant will write about his/ her work experience, in the 8th box mention about your extracurricular activities, in the 9th box mention membership in associations/ professional bodies, in the 10th box mention your academic awards or if any scholarship achieved before, and in 11th box write details regarding your 2 referees.

Here in the last 12th box, an applicant will sign the declaration statement.

Note: If any information is found to be untrue then the process of your application will be terminated.
