International Summer School (ISS) Scholarships are offering for international applicants. ISS scholarships are offered for those applicants who want to pursue Master’s program at The University of Oslo in Norway. ISS scholarships offered both partial and full scholarships for masters programs. The University of Oslo’s International Summer School provides several grants and scholarships. The ISS scholarships are represented by the “stipend” option in Søknadsweb.

Scholarships Description / Details

ISS partial scholarships cover:

Following your course selection at the Søknadsweb application portal, please select ONE of the two options below:

  Option 1: Basic Fee Scholarship

  • Covers course participation, health insurance, and extracurricular activities.
  • Does NOT cover student accommodation, excursions, or travel to/from Oslo.

  Option 2: Student Housing Scholarship

  • Covers course fee, shared accommodation, board, one overnight excursion, and Oslo travel card.
  • Does NOT cover travel to/from Oslo.

ISS Travel Grant:

  • Available for applicants from specific regions (e.g., Africa, Asia, Latin America, etc.).
  • Covers plane tickets to/from the closest international airport and Oslo.
  • Exclusions: Cash reimbursements, airport travel, visa fees, and self-purchased tickets.
  • Program Dates:
    • Arrival: June 22, (Annual)
    • Departure: August 3, (Annual)

Transportation Card:

  • Provided for the program duration (43 days).
  • Not reimbursed or replaced if lost.

Eligibility Criteria

ISS scholarships meet the following criteria:

  • Applicant’s academic background is relevant to the course you apply for
  • Applicant’s professional background is relevant to the course you apply for
  • Financial need
  • Must meet the academic and English proficiency requirements for ISS
  • Requires top academic/professional qualifications,
  • Require Bachelor’s degree and strong academic record

Ineligible applicants who cannot apply for ISS Scholarship:

  • Citizens of Nordiac citizens
  • International applicants residing in Nordic countries (Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Iceland) some exceptions apply. Contact iss@admin.uio.no for inquiries.
  • Applicants for Bachelor’s courses
  • Applicants applying for Norwegian language courses
  • Applicants to ISSN0110 Intensive Elementary Norwegian, Level I
  • Current and former University of Oslo students
  • Former recipients of an ISS scholarship
  • USA/ Canada students are not eligible for the general ISS scholarships, the “stipend” option in Søknadsweb. Check below for Scholarship opportunities for USA/ Canada students.

How to Apply / Download Scholarships Form / Documents Required

Take the following steps to be considered for a general ISS scholarship:

  • Apply for a Master’s program using the “Søknadsweb” application portal between January 2 and February 15, (Annual).
  • Show that you fulfill the academic criteria.
  • Have a solid academic record.
    Exhibit the necessary proficiency in English.
    In your statement of purpose, highlight how your professional and/or academic experience relates to the course you’re applying for (for additional details, read the course descriptions).
