It was the first ever electric speedometer which he named as velocimeter at that time. The reason of naming it as velocimeter is as velocity meter which means to measure the velocity. Soon after that, he applied for the rights of the invention and was awarded a patent in the same year in Austria and Hungary. He showed his invention publically in the year of 1889 in a fair in Paris where he changed its name. Later on, his design was approved and he got the patent in France too.

Speedometer was invented by Josip Belusic in the year of 1888 and it was named as Velocimeter initially. Speedometer is also said as the speed meter which is used to measure the speed. This instrument is a kind of gauge and its main function is to measure the instantaneous speed of a bike, vehicle or any car. Speedometer was designed initially in analogous form but later on, its development to the digital form led it to be a necessary and must part of every car and vehicle. It consists of a kind of scale on which kilometers per hour are noted down and a needle is used to measure the speed of the car by pointing the appropriate speed per kilometer on the board. It can be said that, Josip changed the type of modern cars by this worthy invention by him.
