Biography of Kalanithi Maran
Early Life
Kalanithi Maran founder of Sun Group was born in Chennai, India on 24th July, 1964. He got his early education from the Don Bosco, Egmore, Chennai. After completing his schooling education he went to the Loyola College, Chennai. In his college life he used to be a union chairman of students. He also led the agitation on the issue of Sri Lankan Tamils. After completing his college education he moved to the university life. He got his degree of MBA from the University of Scranton.
Early Working Career
After completing his education from the University of Scranton he moved back to India and there he worked for a magazine named Kungumam Tamil Magazine which was owned by his family in the late years of 80s.
Founder of Sun Group
In 1990s he worked on the expansion of his business and for this purpose he started VHS news magazine in Tamil which was known as Poomaalai. Although that magazine was shutdown in 1992 due to the issues of piracy but this was the initial step for the formation of a conglomerate. He founded Sun TV on 14th April, 1993 with the initial investment of US dollars $86,000, which he borrowed from a bank. That was later on converted into a conglomerate with the name of Sun Group after its diversification.
Sun Group
Sun Group is a conglomerate company of India which is located in Chennai, Tamil Nadu in India. It was founded by KalanithiMaran initially with the name of Sun TV which was a dish and cable system. This company increased its investment and created Sun TV Network. This company also owns a cricket team in IPL with the name of Sunrisers Hyderabad.
By 2010 he joined the list of world’s richest persons and secured a slot on 17th position overall.
