Mexican Government Scholarships 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs through the Mexican Agency for International Development Cooperation (AMEXCID) is calling applications for the Mexican Government Scholarship Program for International Students. These awards are offered to international citizens who are interested in studying for a specialization, master’s degree, or doctorate program at the Mexican Universities. This scholarship program is offered through a series of bilateral conventions, special agreements, and multilateral programs to more than 180 countries.

The scholarship is offered in all academic discipline exclude of:
- Business Administration
- Plastic Surgery
- Accounting
- Marketing
- Advertising
- Dentistry & Odontology as well as related fields.
Duration of Scholarship
The duration of the scholarship:
- Undergraduate mobility program: 24 months maximum
- Master’s level mobility program: 12 months maximum
- Master study: 2 years
- Medical specialization: 3 years
- Postgraduate research stays (master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral levels) 12 months maximum

Scholarship Description / Details
Mexican Government scholarships benefits:
- Registration fees and tuition
- Airfare ticket Conditions: Any changes to tickets purchased by AMEXCID will be at the recipient’s expense.
- Health Insurance provided via IMSS, begins in the seventh month of the scholarship
- National Transportation includes transportation from Mexico City to the Host Institution and back at the beginning and end of the scholarship, if studying outside of Mexico City.
- Round-trip overseas airfare at the start and end of the fellowship.
Monthly Maintenance Stipend:
- Master’s, Undergraduate, and Master’s Research: 4 times UMA, currently $13,202.12 MXN/month.
- Doctoral & Postdoctoral Research: 5 times UMA, currently $16,502.65 MXN/month.
(UMA is subject to legal changes; payments are made monthly in arrears). - Tuition Coverage: According to the program at the host Mexican institution.
- Visa Fee Waiver: Exemption from the cost of issuing a Mexican visa.
- International Airfare: Economy class ticket provided upon successful scholarship completion.
- Administration of Benefits: Managed by AMEXCID and communicated to selected candidates.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to be eligible for the Mexican Government Scholarship, you must meet the following requirements:
- An applicant must be non- Mexican
- Have a Bachelors or Master’s or Ph.D. Degrees as required by the program for which the scholarship is requested
- The scholarships will be awarded on an academic basis
- Have a minimum grade point of 80 on a scale of 0-100 average, or the equivalent marks
- Be accepted, or currently enrolled in a program of the participating Mexican institutions in the Call
- Cannot be living in Mexico at the time of application
- The academic brilliance of an applicant in their area of study.
- The scholarship is open to citizens of 180 countries, therefore you are likely to be from one of them.
Ineligibility
- Foreign diplomats accredited in Mexico, as well as their direct family members.
- Foreigners living in Mexico who do not have a Temporary Student Resident Card from the Government of Mexico.
- Foreigners who also hold Mexican nationality, including children of Mexican parents.
- Foreigners holding a Mexican visa for family unit or aspiring to obtain one.
- Applicants who have received a scholarship in the immediate previous year, from any Federal Government Institution.
- If the applicant already holds a scholarship granted by any Government agency of Mexico.
- Former AMEXCID scholarship recipients who apply for a scholarship, when the same number of months has not elapsed since they received the benefits
How to Apply / Download Scholarship Form / Documents Required
- Download application form
- Applications will be received in electronic format through the Academic Cooperation Management System (SIGCA) (https://sigca.sre.gob.mx ), during its validity.
- The registration of applications must be in Spanish.
- The SIGCA portal will remain open to receive applications during the period from May 16, starting at 18:00 hours, until June 28, 2025, at 15:00 hours Central Mexico Time.
- Each applicant may submit only one application.
- Applicants with multiple nationalities must apply using one eligible nationality as per the countries listed in Annex 5.
- Applications will only be considered for scholarships offered in the academic programs listed in Annex 6.
- Application forms along with the required documents should be submitted to the embassy of the applicant’s country or Mexican embassy. Selected countries can submit an online application for this scholarship program such as Antigua, Barbuda, Dominican, Trinidad, Tobago, Barbados, Suriname, Guyana, Haiti, Dominica, Nicaragua, Slovak Republic, Palestine, Republic Slovenia, Lithuania, Turkey, Latvia, Venezuela, Jamaica, and New Zealand.
General Document Requirements:
- Language: Non-Spanish documents must include a signed, simple Spanish translation on a separate sheet.
- Format: PDF in color, max size 1.8 MB per document.
- Submission: Attach all required documents before the application deadline.
- Legibility: Documents must be clear and readable.
- Signatures: Must match the passport and be in blue ink.
Required Documents:
- Passport Copy: Showing identification details.
- Declaration Letter: Filled out and signed (Format 1).
- Curriculum Vitae: Max 4 pages, signed (Format 2).
- Medical Certificate: Dated within 3 months of submission, confirming good health. If not in Spanish, provide a certified translation.
For Bachelor’s and Master’s Level Mobility:
- Acceptance or Introduction Letter from the receiving university (issued within 60 days) with GPA requirements.
- Letter from the home institution committing to validate educational credits.
- Proof of tutoring in another language, if applicable.
- If studying in Mexico, provide:
- Academic certificate confirming a GPA of 85 or above.
- Previous degree certificate.
For Master’s and Doctoral Levels:
- Acceptance or Introduction Letter with GPA of 85+ (or equivalent).
- Copy of the previous degree certificate.
- Certificate of studies showing GPA of 85+ (not required for Doctoral degree holders).
- Proof of tutoring in another language, if applicable.
For Postgraduate Research Stays:
- Previous degree certificate (Master’s or Doctorate).
- Certificate of studies with GPA of 85+ (not required for Doctoral degree holders).
- Acceptance letter detailing research guidance and advisor information.
- Proof of tutoring in another language, if applicable.
Acceptance/Introduction Letter Requirements:
- On institution letterhead.
- Signed by a competent authority.
- Specify study/research duration (DD/MM/YYYY format).
- Mention the program’s academic level and mode.
- Include the academic program name.

The selection process is fair and inclusive, adhering to principles of non-discrimination, and is based on the following key factors:
- All required documents as outlined in the Call for Applications must be submitted.
- Applicants with a strong academic track record are prioritized.
- Preference is given to those who have not previously received an AMEXCID scholarship.
- Early submissions are prioritized, with preference given to those who register first.

I am Yemeni and I live now in Yemen.
I am one of academic medical teaching staff in the faculty of medicin in Sana’a University. I am teaching the medical microbiology. I need to complete Phd in this part of science.
