Biography of Mike Lazaridis

Early Life

Mike Lazaridis founder of Blackberry was born in the year of 1961 on March 14 in capital of Turkey known as Istanbul. His parents were Greek basically who had migrated to Turkey from there. His family moved to Ontario, Canada when he was just six years of age. He was admitted in local school for his early education. He was fond of studying books from very childhood and following this he got a prize in the age of 12 years from Windsor public library for reading every book which was available there.

Interest in Computer Science

His interest in computer science was increasing day by day and as a result he was enrolled in the University of Waterloo in electrical engineering field and a combination having computer science with it. He was working in this field and as a result he got many proposals for work from different companies but he didn’t accept anyone as he was studying at that time and was working independently. But in the year of 1984, he was offered such a proposal which he couldn’t reject as that was having a great worth wit h it. This proposal was form General Motors to develop such a computer system from which the display could be controlled.

Founder of Blackberry

He signed a contract with General Motors and was working so keenly on this project that he was expelled from the university just 2 months before the completion of his degree of computer science and electrical engineering. After having some amount from this project, he thought to set up his own company in telecommunication field and for this purpose he knocked different doors. He got some loan from his parents; some grant from the government and by using the funds from General Motors he launched his own company with two partners named as Research in Motion Limited in year of 1984.

Blackberry

Blackberry, formerly known as Research in Motion limited was not telecommunication sector in its initial days and first achievement of RIM was the development of barcode technology for movies. He got some benefits from it and as a result put that into telecommunication field and wireless communication. This thing led the RIM to be blackberry in 1999 by introducing blackberry mobile devices. Blackberry launched its much better version in the year of 2002 and this thing made the basis of Blackberry in the field of mobile phones. Presently blackberry is producing cell phones and is one of the leading mobile phone brands all over the world.

Present Situation

Mike Lazaridis is not just limited to Blackberry and he is working for the betterment of human being in different ways. In year of 2000, he founded an institute for theoretical physics and granted almost 170 million dollars to this institute. Presently, Mike is almost 52 years of age but still working for the betterment of telecommunication sector.
