Biography of Rama Prasad Goenka
Early Life
Rama Prasad Goenka founder of the RPG Group was born on 1st March, 1930, Kolkata, India. He completed his early education from his hometown in Kolkata, and for doing his college graduation he went to Presidency College, Kolkata. After completing his college education from there he went to the United States of America for his higher studies at Harvard University.
He remained a well-known politician of India as an M. P in the upper house or RajyaSabha in the Indian Parliament.
Founder of RPG Group
He founded the RPG Group with the collaboration of some companies in the year of 1979.
RPG Group
RPG is a conglomerate of India in the field of industrial goods and products. This conglomerate’s headquarter is based in Mumbai, India. This company was initially started with the incorporated businesses of the Philips Carbon Black, Agarpara Jute, Asian Cables, and Murphy India. These all companies were incorporated in RPG Group. The initials RPG stands for the name of its founder Rama Prasad Goenka.
The above was the historical background of the company. Today this company is involved in the business of fifteen different sectors comprising of fifteen different companies. Some of the companies are CEAT Tires which is a tire manufacturing company, Zensar Technologies Ltd which is an information technology firm, KEC International Ltd which is an infrastructure company and also a pharmaceutical company with the name of RPG Life Sciences Ltd.
Death
Throughout his life he remained on different strategic designations in the companies of his own group. After serving in his entire life he died on 14th April in 2013 in his hometown in Kolkata. He was survived by two sons. His elder son was Harshvardhan and younger son was Sanjiv. He was known as the “taking over king” in his life.
