Early Life

Robert A. Swanson founder of Genentech was a famous businessman and venture capitalist of United States of America. He bore in the year of 1947 on December 24th in Brooklyn, New York in United States of America After his initial education; he joined Saint Massachusetts institute of Technology (also known as MIT) which is located in Massachusetts. From there he earned his bachelor’s degree from there in the year of 166 in the fields of chemistry and after that; following the other education pattern, he earned his MBA from MIT Sloan school of Management.

Initial Career

After his Masters degree in Business administration and management earning from MIT, he started his formal initial career. For this regard, he started work when he became member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity. He worked for there for some years and later on, he joined a movement as an activist. As he had already worked as a chemistry professional in recent past days so he was a pioneer of the field. He was not satisfied of his job and he was not getting the rewards what he deserved. This thing led him to be one of the most famous venture capitalists of all the times.

Robert A. Swanson is widely known and credited as co founder of Genentech with Herbert Boyer. After his initial jobs as a member of a fraternity, he got a good exposure and knowledge of the fields of biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. That was the reason which led him to be the co founder of Genentech with one of his friends. He cofounded the Genentech Company in the year of 1976 with Herbert who was a professor of the field.

Genentech was co founded by Herbert Boyer and one of his friends Robert A. Swanson in the year of 1976. From the year of 1964, Herbert Boyer was working as a field professional of biotechnology. That is why; he cofounded his own company after sharing his ideas with one of his friends Robert and after founding, he named the company as Genentech. Generally Genentech is a pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry sector Company with its branches in more than 20 countries all over the world including Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Nigeria, United Kingdom and France. Presently this company has the 11998 employees working with it and its head quarter is in San Francisco, California in United States of America. The employee growth of company is about 5% with global revenue of 15.4 billion United States dollars. It was included firstly in the best place to work list in the year of 2004.

Death

Robert A. Swanson died in the age of just 52 years as he was facing brain cancer and succumbed to it. He died in the year of 1999 on December 6th. He got more than 1000 awards in the field for his remarkable work.
