Rotary International Scholarships 2025

The leaders with prior professional experience in development and peace are eligible for the Rotary Peace Fellowship. Our fellows are committed to working for international peace and giving back to their local communities. Over 1,700 fellows have been educated by the Rotary Peace Centers since the program’s inception in 2002, and they are currently employed in more than 140 nations. A large number hold leadership positions in governments, non-governmental organizations, education and research institutes, peacekeeping and law enforcement agencies, and international organizations like the World Bank and the United Nations.

Rotary International is offering Scholarships to national and international students. Every year, Rotary selects up to 130 international leaders in the fields of peace and development to receive fully funded academic fellowships to pursue a Masters or Professional Development Certificate program in peace and conflict resolution and prevention at one of the participating peace centers across the globe.These awards are offered for Masters Degree and certificate programs in the 6 following country universities UK, Sweden, USA, Australia, Japan, Uganda institute/universities:

International Christian University, Japan

Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA

University of Queensland, Australia

Makerere University, Uganda (certificate program)

University of Bradford, England

Uppsala University, Sweden

Fields of Study / Subjects

Scholarships available at the collaborating universities in areas such as peacekeeping and the avoidance and settlement of conflicts.

  •     The University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, USA offers multiple degrees, as well as the Master of International Development Policy Program (MIDP) at Duke University.
  •     Master’s Program in Peace Studies, International Christian University of Japan.
  •     The University of Bradford, England offers an Advanced Practice in Peacebuilding and Conflict Resolution MA degree.
  •     The University of Queensland, Australia offers a Master of Peace and Conflict Studies program (MPACS).
  • MS.Sc. in Peace and Conflict Studies, Uppsala University, Sweden.
  •     The Post-Graduate Diploma in Peace and Development Studies certificate program is offered by Makerere University in Uganda.

Important Information: Fellowship recipients are not allowed to attend a Rotary Peace Center in their home nation, with the possible exception of Ugandan applicants who may attend Makerere University.

There are 130 total awards given out annually. Each year, up to 50 master’s degrees and 80 certificates are given out

Duration of Scholarships

  •     Students enrolled in programs for 15 to 24 months must complete a two- to three-month practical internship during the academic year (2 to 3 years).
  •     Three-month certificate program in the avoidance and resolution of peace and conflict.

Scholarships Description / Details

The following are covered by the Rotary International Scholarships:

  •     Room and board
  •     Transportation round-trip
  •     Cover tuition fee
  •     All costs associated with fieldwork and internships

Eligibility Criteria

The following requirements must also be fulfilled by applicants:

  •     Possess a strong command of the English language; learning a second language is highly advised.
  •     A strong dedication to global understanding and peace, as evidenced by accomplishments in the workplace and classroom as well as volunteerism or personal service.
  •     Superb leadership abilities.
  •     Applicants for master’s degrees must have a bachelor’s degree and at least three years of relevant full-time work experience or voluntary activity.
  •     Applicants for certificates must possess a solid academic background and a minimum of five years of relevant full-time work or volunteer experience.

The following individuals are not qualified for the master’s program:

  •     Active and honorary members of Rotary;
  •     Employees of Rotary International, a Rotary club or district;
  •     Spouses of lineal descendants (children or grandchildren by blood or legal adoption)
  •     Spouses or Ancestors (parents or grandparents by blood) of any living individual falling into any of these categories.
  •     Relatives of former Rotary members as mentioned above (within 36 months of their resignation)

(Q) Rotary International Scholarship is available for Doctoral studies?

(A) No.

(Q) Are there some specific eligibility restrictions for this scholarship?

(A) It is required that those who have finished a certificate program, master’s program, or Global Grant award wait three years from the program’s end date to the date they hope to begin receiving the award. In addition, candidates must have completed a minimum of three years of relevant work experience between the time they want to begin the scholarship program and the conclusion of their previous academic program (undergraduate or graduate).

(Q) Is it possible for a candidate’s spouse or any other blood relative to come and stay with them during their studies?

(A) The following individuals are not permitted: spouses, ancestors (parents or grandparents by blood), lineal descendants (children or grandchildren by blood or legal adoption), spouses of lineal descendants, and other live individuals.
