The total literacy rate of Norway is 100% in 2007. Education system is controlled by the Norwegian Ministry of Education of Research. Education is compulsory from age 6 to 16 in Norway. Public education is virtually free. Norwegian school year is divided in two terms, first term from August to December and 2nd term from January to June.
