The Beinecke Foundation Scholarship 2019
The Beinecke Foundation Scholarship Program was established in 1971 to provide scholarships for the graduate education of young men and women of exceptional promise. Originally open to students attending graduate school in all disciplines, in 1998 the board decided to limit eligibility for the award to students planning to pursue a PhD or terminal master’s degree in the arts, humanities and social sciences.

Approximately 20 scholarships are awarded each year for US Students
Duration of Scholarship
The award may be awarded up to 5 years graduate study
Scholarship Description / Details
- Every applicant receives $34,000
- The initial payment of $4,000 is awarded directly to the student
- Pay for travel expenses
- Applicants will receive an additional $30,000 in support
- A maximum award of $15,000 per year
Eligibility Criteria
To apply for Beinecke scholarships. students must meet the following conditions:
- Applicant must have demonstrated superior standards of intellectual abilities, scholastic achievement
- Applicant must give the personal promise during his or her undergraduate career
- Applicant should apply as a college junior pursuing a bachelor’s degree during the 2016-2017 academic years
- Applicant must be US citizen or US national
- Applicant Must be eligible for need-based financial aid during undergraduate years (institutional, state or federal grants-in aid)
- Applicant must have high academic ability above 3.8 GPA recommended
How to Apply / Download Scholarship Form / Documents Required
- Applicant can download scholarship form from main site
- Required documents with the application:
- Personal Statement of 1,000 words or less describing their background, interests, plans for graduate study and career aspirations
- A complete application form
- A Current Resume
- Must attach photocopies all academic transcripts
- A letter from the dean or administrative officer summarizing
- Applicant must attach three letters of recommendation from Professors
- An official copy of the nominee’s transcript
