Sydney Scholars Awards also help children with exceptional academic ability who have experienced severe obstacles, such as financial, medical, or handicap concerns, are refugees, or reside in a rural location.

Scholarships range in duration from one year to five years (combined degrees).
Scholarship Description / Details
- The $6,000 scholarship covers one year of an undergraduate degree.
- National and domestic students, including New Zealand nationals, with an ATAR of 95 or higher will receive a $10,000 stipend for their undergraduate degree.
For one year undergraduate degree:
- The $6,000 scholarship covers the recipient’s first year of an undergraduate degree or dual undergraduate degree (agreed program) for one year.
- The scholarship will be awarded following each semester’s census date in two equal installments.
- It is possible to postpone the start of the Scholarship for a maximum of two years. Scholarships cannot be postponed without the Scholarships Office’s prior consent.
- The scholarship can be applied to a different University of Sydney undergraduate program. The Scholarships Office must grant approval for the scholarship transfer.
- Students must enroll full-time in recognized programs. For the duration of the scholarship. In unusual instances, such as a medical condition that prevents the recipient from pursuing full-time study, they may be forced to hold the scholarship part-time. To be considered for a part-time scholarship, you must submit an application to the Scholarships Office. Part-time scholarship recipients will get 50% of their normal semester payment.
- The scholarship may be suspended in the event of unusual circumstances. Suspension approval is granted on an individual basis after submitting an application to the Scholarships Office.
- There is no further payment necessary.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considering for Sydney scholarships, applicants must:
- Open for domestic including New Zealand citizens and international students
- Open for those applicants who have an ATAR requirement of 95 to 99.85.
- Applicants to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and Sydney College of Arts must have an ATAR of 95 or higher.
- International students with an International Baccalaureate or educational award equal to the HSC may also be eligible.
- Apply for admission through Universities Admission Centre (UAC).

For one year undergraduate degree:
The University of Sydney Scholars Awards are presented to high school graduates who achieved extraordinary results on the NSW Higher School Certificate Examination (ATAR 95 to 99.85) or its equivalent. These individuals include:
- Are you an international student studying onshore or domestically?
- Use the UAC to apply for an undergraduate degree at the University of Sydney in the same year as taking the NSW ATAR or equivalent.
- Apply for the scholarship using the University’s recognized means the year after receiving an HSC or its equivalent.
- Meet the minimum ATAR requirements set by the University of Sydney when the scholarship was offered.
- Plans to enroll in an undergraduate program or combination of undergraduate programs after completing HSC or equivalent.

Selection Criteria:
The Scholarship selection requirements include academic proficiency.
• A statement from the applicant supporting their scholarship application.
•The Scholarship will be awarded by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) based on the recommendations of a committee comprised of multiple Faculty Deans or representatives they have designated.
