United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) Scholarships 2025

United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) is granting scholarships to both Emirati and international students. These UAEU scholarships are available to Emirati and international students interested in pursuing graduate programs in the UAE. United Arab Emirates University is a leading public university in Al Ain, United Arab Emirates. It is ranked #261 in the QS World University Rankings 2025.

The university established the first PhD program in the United Arab Emirates at a national university. It draws industrial, national, and international grants as a research institute. Public health, pharmacy, and business administration are just a few of the fields covered by professional doctorate degrees and PhD programs.

Duration of Scholarships

MS programs last two years, whereas PhD programs last four.

Scholarships Description / Details

  • Scholarships include tuition costs, monthly stipends, and housing allowances.
  • Medical insurance.
  • The supervisor may provide up to AED 3,000 for an external research project. The supervisor’s internal research project could provide up to AED 2,000.(For the PhD program.)

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility Criteria for Masters Programs

  • The minimal qualification for Masters programs is a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent in all undergraduate courses.
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an approved university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
    • An IELTS Academic exam or equivalent score of at least 6.0 is required for all English-based fields. Click here.  to see a list of accredited IELTS and TOEFL exam centers. This test score must be under two years old at the time of application, with the following exceptions:

1. Eligible candidates are native English speakers who finished their undergraduate study at an English-medium institution in a nation where English is the official language (see to the list of eligible countries).
2. Applicants with an undergraduate degree from English-medium institutions must have a minimum TOEFL score of 500 on the paper-based test or equivalent at the time of admission to their undergraduate program.

  • An applicant having a Bachelor degree recognized by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research may be granted conditional admission into a Master’s program under one of the following situations:

1. Applicants having an IELTS score of 5.5 or equivalent. Such a student must achieve the following conditions during the conditional admission term or face dismissal (Preparation Course to Improve IELTS).
2. Students must earn a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent by the conclusion of their first semester of study.
3. Students can take up to six credits in the first semester, excluding intense English courses.
4. Obtain an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale for the first 9 credit hours of credit-bearing courses in the Master’s degree.

  • Applicant must have an undergraduate cumulative GPA of at least 2.5, but less than 3.0. Such a student must achieve the following standards during the time of conditional admission or face dismissal:
  • 1. Students can take up to nine (9) credit hours in their first semester.
  • 2. Obtain an overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale in the first 9 credit hours of credit-bearing courses in the Master’s program.
  • Admission to an Arabic-taught Master’s Program requires a minimum IELTS score of 4.0 or equivalent.

Individual Master’s Programs with a professional orientation may contain provisions for considering relevant job experience when calculating the GPA for conditional admittance. The Academic Council must accept these provisions.

Eligibility Criteria for Doctoral Programs

To apply for the PhD program, applicants must have a Master’s degree from an authorized university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education in a relevant field.

  • A Master’s degree from an approved university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
  • Applicants must have a Bachelor’s Degree from an approved university recognized by the UAE Ministry of Education in the relevant academic program, with a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent.
  • An IELTS Academic exam or equivalent score of 6.5 or higher is required for all English-based fields. Click here to see a list of accredited IELTS and TOEFL exam centers. This test score must be under two years old at the time of application, with the following exceptions:
    • A native English speaker with a Master’s degree from an English-medium university and a country where English is the official language.
    • Applicants having a Master’s degree from an English-medium institution must demonstrate a minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent at the time of admission to their Master’s program.
  • Admission to an Arabic-language PhD program requires a minimum IELTS score of 5.0 or equivalent.
  • Colleges may set higher entrance standards for their PhD programs.
  • Applicants for PhD programs must have a GPA of at least 3.5/4.0 in their Master’s degree.
  • No financial support from employment or sponsorship.
  • Complete a dissertation in one of the UAE’s priority sectors, including renewable energy, transportation, health, water, technology, and space.

PhD students must maintain a GPA of at least 3.3 at the PhD level.

  • Enroll full-time (minimum of 9 credits per semester) at the PhD level.
  • Commit to full-time attendance at UAEU.
  • Invest at least 40 hours per week in classes and/or research projects throughout the year.

How to Apply / Download Scholarships Form / Documents Required

  • Applicants should apply online.
  • The application package should include the following:
  • For master’s programs:
  • Completed application form
  • Deposited non-refundable application fee in the university’s bank account (program-specific)
  • Emirati students must provide a copy of their passport and Khulasat Al-Qaid, while international students need a copy of their passport.
  • Applicants must provide two certified copies of official transcripts from any colleges or universities they attended (sent directly to the Office of Enrollment).
  • Applicants must provide an official copy of their IELTS certificate or equivalent, which should be provided directly to the Office of Enrollment.
  • Recommendation letters may be requested by certain programs.

For Professional Doctoral Programs

  • Completed the application form.
  • Emirati students must provide copies of their passports and Khulasat Al-Qaid, while international students need a copy of their passport.
  • Provide a certified copy of official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended.
  • Two passport-sized pictures.
  • Provide an official copy of the applicant’s IELTS exam score or equivalent.
  • A thorough CV.
  • Provide two letters of recommendation from professionals familiar with the student’s academic work.
  • Write a motivational letter (up to 1000 words).
  • Applicants must write a statement about their research background and interest in the program’s official language.
