University of Twente (UT) is offering scholarships for international students from all the countries (both the EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA countries). These scholarships are offered for those applicants who want to pursue their graduate degree program at the University in Netherlands. This scholarship is focusing on intelligence and need base applicants over the world. The University Twente Scholarship (UTS) is a scholarship for outstanding students from non-EU/EER countries pursuing a graduate degree (MSc) at the University of Twente.

Number of Scholarships

Approximately 50 scholarships are offered annually to the international students to study in Masters / MS programs.

Duration of Scholarship

The duration of scholarship is one year for master’s program and can be extended for the second year if study results are sufficient.

Note: Applicants can choose either one-year or two-years study program. In case of two years study, applicants can receive an additional UTS of an amount equal to that in the first year and to cover the expenses of the second year. But the continuation of this scholarship for the second year of graduate study program totally depends on the result of the first-year courses.

Following are the progress requirements to get a scholarship for the second year:

  • You must obtain an average grade of 7 (out of 10) at the end of the third quartile of the first year of the graduate program.
  • At least 50% of European Credits should be covered at the end of the third quartile of the first-year study.

Scholarship Description / Details

University of Twente (UT) scholarships for international students provide many grants for the applicants, these following grants are:

  • Scholarships funds of € 3,000 – € 22,000 for one year (can be extended for second year on basis of satisfactory performance).

Note: The scholarship will not pay any tuition fee on behalf of the applicants. The amount of scholarship will be given to the scholarship students, it is up to them how they decide to spend the money.

Eligibility Criteria

In order to be considered for University of Twente (UT) scholarship, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • All applicants from EU/EEA and Non-EU/EEA countries are welcome to apply for this scholarship.
  • Applicants need to first secure the admission and gain offer letter from the University.
  • To apply for scholarship, you need to have a student number.
  • Applicant must not be graduated from the university before in any graduate program.
  • All requirements for obtaining an entry visa in Netherlands must be fulfilled.
  • You comply with the general English language test requirement Academic IELTS 6.5 (or TOEFL iBT of 90) and an additional 6.0 (TOEFL iBT 20) on the subscore of speaking skills
  • Applicants must not be eligible for a Dutch study loan;
  • You have been (provisionally) admitted to one of the qualifying UT Master programmes starting in the academic year 2025/2026 (September). Please note: After completion of your application, it may take up to 8 weeks before you receive the results.
  • The University Twente Scholarship is a scholarship for excellent students. Typically this means that you belong to the best 5 to 10 percent of your class
  • Must have an  excellent academic background.

Note: Current students can not apply for this scholarship.

  • Applicants can apply via online application system, visit official website.
  • You’ll need to enter the student number that you got during the university admission.
  • The UT scholarships are not available for Dutch and/or current UT Bachelor students.

  • Application forms closes per 1 February (annual), 16.00 CET (for programmes starting September (annual)

  • Application form opens per 1 February (annual), 16.00 CET
  • Application form closes per 1 May (annual), 16.00 CET (for programmes starting September (annual)

If you applied in round 1, and your application was rejected, an application in round 2 is not considered. You can only be awarded with one UT scholarship.
