Early Life

Warren A. Bechtel founder of Bechtel Corporation (Bechtel Group) was born in Freeport, Illinois on 12th September, 1872. He belonged to the family of John Moyer Bechtel and Elizabeth and he was the eldest child of his parents.

Interest in Railroad Industry

His education life is not visible on the pages of history. But his working carrier is mentioned in history. He worked in the railroad industry of the United States as an employee. But before joining railroad he worked on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma which was failed and after that in 1898 he joined railroad industry.

That was the field which he was looking for and he became an experienced person in that field by working over 20 years. He expanded his carrier in the building of roads and highways. His early contracts were with Oroville, California depot for the Western Pacific Railroad.

Personal Life

He has three children Warren Bechtel Jr, Stephen D. Bechtel Sr. and Kenneth K. Bechtel. And by occupation he was a businessman.

Founder of Bechtel Corporation

In 1919 he won a contract to build the water tunnels for Caribou Hydroelectric Facility. That was the initial start of the company of Bechtel Corporation. He gained that contract with some other partners who left him after sometime and he became the founder the corporation.

He died on 28th August, 1933 in Moscow the city of Russia.
