Wellcome Trust Master’s Fellowships 2021
Wellcome Trust Master’s Fellowships scheme supports junior researchers with the opportunity to gain research experience and training at Master’s or PhD degree level in any university of world. Wellcome scheme aims to provides research that will improve public health and tropical medicine at a local, national and global level. This is a good opportunity for low or middle income country students.

Duration of Scholarship
The duration of the funding is 30 months (around about 3 years). The first 12 months for a taught Master’s course. The following 18 months is normally for research project
Scholarship Description / Details
Wellcome Master’s Fellowships provides:
- Studentship stipend (£15,000 a year (outside London) or £17,000 a year (Greater London))
- Travel Costs (e.g. outward and return airfares)
- Tuition fees
- Research expenses
- A basic salary
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible criteria for Wellcome fellowships:
- Applicants from a national of a low or middle income country
- Must have a clinical or non-clinical bachelor degree in a relevant discipline to public health or tropical medicine
- Must be at an early stage in their career with limited research experience, must have a demonstrated interest in, or aptitude for, research
- Those candidates are not eligible who belongs to UK, Republic of Ireland or another high income country
- Not eligible who is a researcher in India
- Currently applying for another Wellcome Trust fellowship are also not eligible
