World Wildlife Fund Scholarships 2025
The WWF of Nepal is awarding scholarships to Nepalese students through the Chandra Gurung trusts. These scholarships are for students who desire to study Masters degrees at various universities. These scholarships are designed to help extremely outstanding Nepalese students pursue higher education.
The Chandra Gurung Memorial Fellowship was launched to recognize the late Dr. Chandra Prasad Gurung’s outstanding achievements to biodiversity protection in Nepal during his lifetime. The WWF has started a memorial scholarship fund in honor of the late Chandra Gurung and his unwavering dedication to conservation.
This program will provide financial aid to Nepalese conservationists seeking a Master’s degree in conservation-related subjects. In honor of Chandra’s premature and terrible death, WWF will help to develop a new generation of conservation leaders to address the myriad challenges Nepal faces in protecting its unique natural legacy.
Field of Study / Subjects
Applicants can choose any field for their Masters degree courses, which are available at several universities under this grant. These fields can include nature conservation, environmental biology, and biodiversity.
Other current Scholarships in Nepal are available for a variety of degrees and courses throughout the country.

This scholarship provides various benefits:
The Chandra Gurung Memorial Fellowship
- The fellowship recipient will receive Nepali rupees 482,000.00 over two years to cover expenses for books, living, thesis research costs, supplies, and tuition costs for a Master’s degree in conservation at a Nepali university.
- Scholars will get the opportunity to engage with WWF personnel about conservation efforts in Nepal.
- If required, WWF has the exclusive right to reduce or share the scholarship reward among deserving applicants.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria.
- Applicants must be Nepalese nationals with a valid passport.
- Eligible applicants must have good academic records.
- The applicant must be in the 24- to 30-year-old age range.
- The applicant must have applied for or been accepted into a master’s program at a Nepali institution in a field linked to conservation.
- The applicant must be enrolled in their first semester of college.
Selection
A competitive, merit-based selection process is used to choose Chandra Gurung Memorial Fellows. After reviewing all qualified submissions and interviewing finalists, a selection committee is formed to select the recipient taking into account the following criteria:
• Professional credentials as evidenced by field colleagues’ recommendations, previous and current conservation-related roles, publications, and other sources.
• Leadership via volunteer work, extracurricular activities, and community service, among other things.
• Prior academic success as demonstrated by grades, honors, teacher and professor recommendations, and other indicators.
• The determination and commitment to support conservation efforts in Nepal.

• Save a copy of your application dossier for your records.
• Submit scanned copies of your application to memorialscholarships@wwfnepal.org or mail it to the address on the preceding page, together with the recommended documents indicated in the checklist.
Applications without necessary documentation will not be evaluated.

- To apply, submit a completed application form, a signed Personal Service Agreement, and two letters of recommendation from teachers, professors, or professional colleagues. Family members’ letters of recommendation will not be accepted.
- Provide a copy of your academic transcripts and certificates.
• Copy of citizenship certificate. - A CV or résumé.
• Provide documentation of acceptance or application to the Master of Science program.
• University admission exam results.
• Please provide copies of any prizes or certificates you have received.
• Send copies of abstracts from published journal articles, research initiatives, and conference papers. Do not send the complete document.
