Early Life
Zhang Ruimin Founder of Haier Group was born in Qingdao, Shandong on 5th January, 1949. He was born in a working class family. His father and mother, both were employed in a garment factory in locality. As a young boy he was also affected by Cultural Revolution like many other pupils. He had to be a part of the Red Guards as that movement was spread across the whole country. He took active part in the process of Chinese communism. He attended all the rallies off Mao Zedong and also visited Mao’s birthplace. He attended those rallies in Beijing because all the schools and educational institutions were closed. And when eventually that movement was over, he avoided going into countryside.
Due to that disturbance in the educational system of the country almost all the schools were shutdown. And he was unable to get admission in any college. Despite of having a little education he started his carrier not in a conventional manner. He started his carrier in Construction Company which was under state’s control in Qingdao in year 1968.
Career in the Factory
His educational background was not strong enough for a competent environment. Despite of that weak educational background he had eager for learning new things. During his working hours in the factory he started learning management courses. He increased his learning ability through self-study by reading different books in spare time.
On the other hand he was progressing in the company on different designations. He jumped on the post of workshop supervisor. After that he was further promoted to the job of deputy director of the company. He earned that position after the hard work of twelve years in 1980.
After two years in 1982 he became the deputy manager of “Household Appliance Division” of the Qingdao municipal government. When he joined that position he was the fourth person for that position in the history of company. In his era that company fell into deep trouble of debts. It was liable to pay more than ten million dollars.

As the general manager of Qingdao Refrigerator Plant he went to Germany for meeting his company’s German partner. He went there and realized that the cause of company’s regression was its quality and reputation, he took some severe steps for improving those areas and slowly and gradually the company went on right path. In 1986 his Qingdao Refrigerator plant recovered from all debts and became profitable. In proceeding years, Company went on to takeover other plants also. Hello,
I’m writing to inform you that your Haier customer service centre in Gujrat is not performing their duties properly.
It has been well over three months since I called for customer support and still my machine is not fixed! The staff at Gujrat centre is unprofessional and dishonest. Please take notice ASAP. I’m extremely disappointed to see that a company as big as yours would have such pathetic customer support. Your email address isn’t valid either and this is my last attempt after which I’ll be forced to post on every available blog and forum on the internet about your fraudulent practices. Please read on for details.
My washing machine had an issue for which I registered a complaint ID PKGT160106103135. The technician came after a delay of few days, took out a part he referred to as “kit” and said he’s sending it to the factory to get it repaired.
He informed me that customer support will call me and inform me regarding charges and time required for repair.
No one called and after a week or so I called your customer support again only to find out that the technician updated falsely that customer has chosen to get the machine repaired from local market and the ticket showed “completed ” status. I informed your rep that it wasn’t true so he opened another ticket with ID PKGT160115102194
Next day the same technician returned with the kit and said the remarks on the complaint were some misunderstanding. He tried installing the kit ( which now had duct tape on it rather than being fixed properly, I doubt it wasn’t even the same kit!) and said it’s still not working and that tomorrow another person will come and try to install this or bring a new kit to replace it if required.
Again no one came for days and once I called the Gujrat office I was told that they have demanded a new kit from China and it will take about 10 days to get here.
More than 10 days passed and I called the Gujrat office all day on Friday 29th January but they didn’t answer. Then they called me to say it’s going to take an entire month to get that part and that if the head office calls to check about progress I should tell them that it’s being fixed!
Afterwards I was told that even China factory didn’t have the kit so I have to bring the machine over to Gujrat. Once I went there your branch manager, Ashraf, was missing and the staff there had no idea that they themselves had asked me to bring the machine over. They were even reluctant to check against my ticket number to check where my kit was! Upon insistence they confirmed that your thief of a rep in Kharian had sent nothing to Gujrat whatsoever! Again they mumbled a story about checking from China and once I told them that you had said that two months ago they had no satisfactory answer but this that I should talk to branch manager who was out attending a family affair. They asked me to leave the machine there and call the manager. I was told that they’d contact me after sorting out the matter.
I called again after a week and was told that they had sent the kit to Lahore and had asked for a new motor. I told them the motor was fine as I had checked it myself! The manager then said just let me handle this I’ll update you soon. He called me a week or so later only to tell me that they couldn’t fix the kit or find a spare one so I should pay 30,900 and get my machine replaced! When I got angry he recalculated the amount and said 12,500 is to be paid!
I don’t want a new machine I only want you to fix mine! Initially I was told that kit repair and visiting fee would cost me 1500 now you want me to pay 12500! This is unacceptable.
My question is this: Haier doesn’t have spare parts for a product that they sold 4 years ago! Worst part is I, the customer am being punished for your company’s short sightedness and inefficiency. Why your kharian rep was not fired immediately once it was found out he had put false remarks in the feedback and had replaced my genuine kit with a broken one!
Above all, if you fail to fix your own products due to lack of spare parts why are you punishing me for it? My fault is that I bought Haier and not Dawlance? Why should I pay 12500 instead of 1500?
Please take notice of this gross inefficiency and unprofessional conduct and ensure that my machine is fixed immediately. Otherwise I’ll be forced to post to all Haier blogs and your international sites that I find online.
Regards,
An extremely dissatisfied customer!
Dear
This is just a website which has biography of Haier founder. You have to call the concerned person in company or call directly the CEO or manager of compancy.
Thanks for the reply Jin, the problem is that I can’t find the CEO’s email and all the other people whose email is available online seem to have their mail boxes full. I get delivery failure messages.
Do you have Haier’s CEO, Zhang’s email?
