Biography of Eva Chen

Early Life

Eva Chen Founder of Trend Micro Inc. was born in Taichung, Taiwan. She got admission in National Chengchi University in Taipei. She got a degree in philosophy from that university. After completing her education from National Chengchi University she worked for a publishing industry for a short span of time. But she left that work and migrated to the United States of America for doing her masters in 1984.

She completed his degree in masters from the University of Texas at Dallas. She got that degree in the field of management information systems. After completing her studies she went back to Taiwan and joined Acer Inc. as a researcher in its research department. But she also left that job and joined a Chinese newspaper as its writer.

One famous incident regarding her life is that in her early life her house caught fire from telephone wires. Due to that incident she felt fear from telephone wires for a long time.

Founder of Trend Micro Inc.

She was the main founder of Trend Micro. But she started that company as a co-founder; other partners include her sister Jenny and her brother-in-law Steve Chang. This company was founded in 1988 in Los Angeles. She became the first executive vice president of this company. She left this designation in 1996 and shifted herself on the post of chief technology officer. While her stay in the company as Chief Technology Officer she developed the Network Virus Wall.

She promoted to the designation of CEO at Trend Micro Inc. in 2005. In the month of April of same year she accepted her first challenge. The PCs and systems of Trend Micro Inc. were attacked by some faulty viruses which caused its system to freeze. She redesigned the whole system and software structure to avoid any type of interruption in future.

She was a great leader and under her leadership her company progressed from producing traditional antivirus software to new technology cloud protection. She purchased a Canadian security company named Third Brigade in 2009. She also purchased cloud storage facility from Humyo in 2010. She received an award “Cloud Security Alliance Industry Leadership Award” in 2012 for her work in cloud security in the region of Asia-Pacific.

Trend Micro Inc. is a multinational company of Japan in the field of security software production. It’s headquarter is in Tokyo, Japan. Initially it was started as the producer of antivirus software but as the time passed it enhanced the production of security systems with the advance versions of cloud security. In market, it’s recognized software and products are Trend Micro Internet Security, OfficeScan, Trend Micro Worry-Free Business Security, and so many other security related software. It is a certified company with certificate authority and membership in CA/Browser Forum, the industry standards.

Life beside Professionalism

She is the wife of Daniel Chiang, who is a co-founder of Sina.com. She lives in Pasadena, California with her daughter and a son.
