Biography of Niklas Zennstrom

Early Life

Niklas Zennstrom founder of Skype is a famous Swedish software engineer. He was born in the year of 1966 on 16th February in Jarfalla which is a city of Sweden. He got his early education from his town school where he studied till 1977. After that, he joined Richard College of science in Jarfalla for his further education. After his initial formal education, he was enrolled in Uppsala university of Sweden. He got his Bachelor’s degree in Business administration while his Masters degree in Engineering physics.  He joined university of Michigan, An Arbor in United States of America and spent some time there for his studies.

Interest in Internet Business

He was not initially interested in business but after getting in a mature age he came to know the fact that business will be a good way of living for him. Keeping in mind this fact, he earned his BSC in Business administration from university of Uppsala. Initially he started his career through a job in the year of 1991 in European telecom operator. Later on, he started his own business of European internet service provider get2net which became very famous. After that, he started another business as founding of www.everyday.com which was an online portal.

Co Founder of Skype

Niklas Zennstrom is widely credited as the Co Founder of Skype which was founded in the year of 2004. As mentioned earlier, the businesses of get2net internet service provider and www.everyday.com made him very famous as an internet entrepreneur. By hearing this, another internet entrepreneur of Denmark named as Janus Friis met him and shared his idea of developing an online telephone company. This idea influenced Niklas and as a result they co founded skype in 2004.

Skype was co founded by Niklas Zennstrom and Janus Friis in the year of 2004. Formerly the idea behind founding skype was of an online telephone company but later on many changes are made to it till the date. Generally it was a company based on peer to peer principle but later on it developed in a large extent. Just after one year of its launching, Skype was acquired by eBay for 2.6 billion dollars on 14th October 2005. Niklas Zennstrom was its first CEO of Skype and presently it has more than 309 million users world widely.

Present Situation

Presently Niklas Zennstrom is almost 47 years of age and is still residing in Sweden. His entrepreneurship is still on the go and he is getting a worth from online business and services.
