University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) Scholarships for International Students 2021/ 2022
University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) is offering scholarships to young talented international students. These scholarships are offered for those applicants who wish to pursue their Master’s and Doctoral study programs and want to conduct research at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) in China. This scholarship also attract the graduate students currently enrolled in foreign universities for a joint study program.

Applicants can choose any of the master’s or doctoral degree programs that are currently being offered by the UCAS.

Numbers of Scholarships
Many numbers of scholarships are offered annually to the international students to study in master’s or PhD study programs.
Duration of Scholarships
- Master’s program: no longer than 36 months (03 years)
- Doctoral (PhD) program: no longer than 36 months (03 years)
- Students on joint programs: 6-24 months
- Regular and Senior visiting scholars: 6-24 months
Scholarships Description / Details
University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) Scholarships for international students provide many grants for applicants, these following grants are:
- Amount exempted from tuition fees:
- Master’s students would be exempted from a tuition fee of RMB 30,000/year
- Doctoral students would be exempted from a tuition fee of RMB 40,000/year
- Senior visiting students would be exempted from a tuition fee of RMB 3,000/month
- The regular visiting student would be exempted from a tuition fee of RMB 2,600/month
- Stipend:
- Monthly stipend of RMB 2,500 for Doctoral students and senior visiting students
- Monthly stipend of RMB 2,000 for Master’s students and regular visiting students
- The total amounts of monthly stipend will be no less than RMB 3500 for Doctoral students, senior visiting students and students on joint programs
- RMB 3000 for Master’s students and regular visiting students
- Provides basic accommodation
- Medical Insurance:
- The insurance premium is RMB 800/year, with RMB 400 for half-year term, and it would be deducted from the first stipend of each academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
In order to considered for University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (UCAS) Scholarships for International Students, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:
- Get recommended by a supervisor and the institute/school which the supervisor is affiliated with.
- Have an appropriate attitude toward learning and scientific research and have outstanding academic performance.
- Age requirements:
- Not affiliated with any other sponsorship at the time of application.
- Age requirements for master’s degree no more than 30 years old.
- Age requirements for Doctoral degree no more than 35 years old.
- Students on joint programs: no age limit.
- Regular visiting students should be no more than 40 years old and senior visiting students should be no more than 45 years old.
- Requirements on language level:
- Programs taught in Chinese: Applicants should obtain at least 180 points for Level 5 of new HSK test before registration.
- Programs taught in English: Applicants should have adequate good English proficiency.
- Other requirements on applicants on joint programs:
- Applicants should be currently studying at higher institutions abroad.
- The higher institution abroad the applicant is affiliated with should have signed relevant collaboration and exchange agreement with CAS/UCAS/CAS institute.
- Awarded student should register before the November of 2016.
- The academic visit to or joint culture at CAS should last for no shorter than 3 months.
- Other requirements on visiting scholars:
- Scholars should register before the November of 2016.
- Scholars shall be further educated for no shorter than 6 months.
- Students who are currently studying at higher institutions in China cannot apply.
How to Apply / Download Scholarships Form / Documents Required
Applicants can apply for this scholarship, must follow some steps:
- Find an eligible host supervisor affiliated with CAS institute or UCAS School. Send him/her an email along with your CV, research proposal and other required documents and mention your interest in applying for this scholarship.
- Apply for this scholarship via the online application system. Get access to application portal here.
- Carefully fill in your personal information and attach all the required documents (must be in Chinese or English).
- Submit application for both admission and scholarship.
- Once your application passes the preliminary review, both the forms will be sent to your supervisor. Do remind your supervisor to complete the supervisor’s comment section on both forms.
- Required Documents:
- A photocopy of passport’s personal information page (with at least 2 years validity).
- Original notarized photocopies of degree certificates.
- Original transcripts or original notarized photocopies of transcripts.
- Recommendation letters from two professors.
- CV and research proposal.
